Hi All,

Last Friday morning I went to the parking lot in my apartment complex to find my bike missing. It was a 2009 Yellow FZ6R. I have filed a police report and informed my insurance (Rider insurance). I am least hopeful that I will get it back. Any idea about how much the insurance company will repay me and how long would it take??

Also, assuming I get a decent amount back, I was thinking of getting another bike, maybe upgrade to a super-sport. Just that I wanted a bike wherein my wife could sit comfortably and we could go for long drives.

Please let me know your comments/suggestions.

Thanks.

That sucks brotha, where abouts do you live?

Most of the time they will try to track your bike down first which delays the process from what I have heard but Id say 4-8 week timeline sadly

Yeah thats insanely sucky. I'm glad I live in Utah in a good area, I dont even usually lock my car doors!

They will have an outside company do a value estimate. Any add ons will be ignored and only a high performance exhaust system and alarm will be considered...maybe. If you get a $6300.00 value you are lucky. It might be less.

So after the loan is paid off and all the other BS charges deducted, that's what you will get. After I paid 1200 down and payments for a year, I was reimbursed 198.00 total for my 09 yellow FX6R. That's like a nice dinner for 4 at Benihana's....good grief!

I think it's better to just get minimum insurance and save for the rainy day rather than toss $$ to the insurance co. I'll never do a loan again.

Want a shocker? Look up the same bike year and model on NADA. You'll see it is worth a lot to you only. You'll probably get between 4 and 5k, maybe a bit more but I doubt it. Once you get things settled and are looking for a new bike with which you can comfortably carry a passenger you had better look at something other than a sportbike. For anything other than a trip to Redbox a sportbike ain't gonna cut it unless you enjoy inflicting pain and discomfort on your passenger. The closest you will get is something in a sport touring. They cost a little more but your wife will thank you. David

I wish you luck, I kind-of wish I got a supersport, only because my girlfriend wants to fall asleep when she gets on the fz6r, it's that comfy. UGH I wanna kick her.

Fall asleep on your FZ64? How old is she - 14? Sorry but the backseat of any sportbike is not comfortable for anything other than a very, very short trip. Do you see anyone touring two up on a sportbike? Rhetorical question. Wanna go riding with your girlfriend on a sportbike? Get her one too. David

They took it by mistake. Did you pay cash oor was it stolen by a repo guy? Did you leave it with the key in it? The main reason for stolen bikes and cars is ease of theft.... oppertunity. If you leave 20 bucks on the side walk find it in an hour.

I myself carry extremely good insurance, and I could care less if someone steals my bike lol! I paid cash, and my insurance covers itemised list, you need to talk to your insurers, then, decide what you want, no bike, no money, haha you suck??? Or screw it, I wanted a new one.

I thought I had itemized insurance too but in the end, they said all I had was fair market value and all the extras weren't included.
I looked through the policy and don't see fair market, replacement or itemized. I guess they didn't give me copies of that part. Need to call and get a full copy of the policy.

I have the same agent for my bike and for my cars, that includes a rally car. I sat in the office and we went over the list with reciepts, that is a huge indicator. If they don't ask for them you don't have it.

They made me give them a fax copy of every receipt for all the upgrades and then said they couldn't read the prices and I came in and let them make copies on a copy machine that they could read. They still didn't pay one dime for the $4200.00 in upgrades that were only maximum 3 months old. The bars and some others were only 2 hours old at the time of the accident.

Sorry for my hijack but DAMN Spunky your gettin a mods list going already

Sorry to hear about your bike getting stolen. Hopefully you can recover your loss quick so that you can get back on the road again.
