Metallica S&M DVD

So I'd consider myself a casual Metallica fan. I have a few albums, I like their music, but I'm not a freak about them like a buddy of mine and his wife. One of the albums I have is the S&M album where they're playing with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. To me that's always been my favorite. I like all kinds of music and to me the depth that the symphony brings is just awesome. But my friend who's the freak about them thinks its the worst thing they every did. Like it was a gimmick or something. Again, to me a good album and good music. Now I got the DVDs of that concert from Netflix and was just going to play it while I did some work around the house. Holy crap, I can't stop watching it long enough to get anything done. It's incredibly captivating. The first 30 minutes I had goosebumps all over from it. I love watching live concerts on TV (Eagles - Hell Freezes Over is one of my favorite DVDs I own and I love the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame concert that was done a few years ago) but this has taken the cake. I just wish the video quality was better than a 1999 DVD.

Anyone else seen this concert?

I have those CD's too, absolutely love them! I did see some of the concert somewhere, somehow, can't remember, too long ago... But I agree, it was great to watch them work it with the orchestra. And the fans were amazing!

Yes I own it, and no... the worst thing they ever did was work with Ja Rule.... 'nuff said. S&M was a good album.. I just wish that they did a studio version of it. I appreciate showmanship during live shows... however after a while Hetfield gets rather Durst'ish to me. One of the reasons why I do not like Live Albums.

Kiss are going to be in town next month... but my sister is coming from Montreal with the kids the same weekend. That would have been a great show too. I saw Metallica in Montreal back in the days... Justice for all tour. Was awesome!!!

Great show! I got the Metaliica S&M DVD in high school.......

Anyway, got quite a few concert DVDs. One of my favorites is Our Lady Peace. Whether or not you like Raine Maida's voice, the music is great, and almost 10 albums later (imo with the exception of the first and most recent) they're still making good music.

If you watch the bonus features The original bassist CLiff Burton had written all of their music in a way that it match up with the symphony. That was kind of a tribute to him.

I watched that concert a lot in college. Very Good. Another one I watched a lot and need to find again is Pink Floyd's "Pulse" concert DVD. That one is fantastic if you like Pink Floyd. Which I do. A LOT.

Another one that I can't get enough is Audioslave live in cuba. AWESOME.
