Lowering front end for more aggresive look?

I don't think this is a repost..there is alot of post on lowering with the links but I want to know if anyone has just lowered the front ends the way they describe here?



"The bike’s front end sits unusually high, and along with an odd appearance it also reflects in handling as the Yamaha isn’t the tightest liner. Obviously the budget conscientious forks have a lot to do with its handling capabilities, but a few turns of the wrench helped improve both aspects.There is plenty of room beneath the handlebar to allow for the forks to rise through the triple trees, thereby lowering the front end for a more aggressive stance and more weight bias on the front, allowing for slightly quicker turning ability without creating any skittishness. Gotta love the freebie mods."

This has been discussed before, and short story short, it is perfectly fine to drop the forks by up to two inches.

Just make sure its even on both sides and enjoy. Best appearance mod you can do on this bike.

I lowered mine 2inches. looks so much better! it turns much faster as well. only took about 15 minutes to do. good luck you ll be happy with the result

Mine's lowered about 2.5 inches up front. Looks and feels great.

Those that have done this mod...do you think lowering the front 2" could cause the bike to bottom out while going over speed bumps? I have to go over a couple every time I leave and come back to my apartment.

Personally, I haven't scraped bottom over speed bumps.

The photo kinda shows the ground clearance with the bike being lowered 2.5" up front.

How are the cables i lowered mine about 1.5in and the cables are a bit tight

this did happen to me at 2" so I came back to 1.5"

My cables are a little tighter, but it doesn't harm braking or clutch.

dropped my bike 1.5 inches in the front. everything is ok except the horn and its bracket WILL CONTACT your front fender causing damage!

A good way to check how much u can lower is to look at the dust marks on the forks in between the triple trees. This is how much play you have in lowering as your suspension hasn't been used in that area where the dust is. This will differ with each bike with various riders and riding styles. And if you lower the bike using less than the length of the dust area you shouldn't bottom out. Hope that made sense. :zombie:

idk but i got three bad dents in paint/plastic directly under the horn and mounting bracket. raised it back up .5" untill i can find out how to relocate the horn

I just lowered mine 1.25 inches in the front. Should have come like this from the factory. Turns in great now.

Yes, I am a vertically challenged rider also, this allowed me to get a lot better footing.
