Hey everyone. I had a low-side accident last week and my bike is a total loss. Thought I'd share my last odo reading and let errbody know that it was really good owning my FZ6R and being a part of this forum.

I may not be riding for a while, but I'll still be around the forum.

Sorry to hear! :( Sure would have liked to see you cross over the 100k mark! Damn. Glad you are ok though.

i was thinking the same thing, lot of miles on there. glad to know it lasted that long. Sorry to hear its done for, it looks like it could be salvaged but id sell it and buy a new one. Super glad you are ok.

Thanks peeps!

I forgot to mention that I'm doing okay. Had decided to put on my leather jacket for the first time in a while that morning and it saved my right side from what could have been a fun trip to the ER. ATGATT baby!

Sad to see her down & out, atleast you got plenty of killer photos of her!
Great news that you are ok & yeah ATGATT

Glad you're OK. Like FastFreddy said, things can be replaced/fixed a lot easier than people and bodyparts.

If it's not unsalvageable, I'd look at turning it into a cafe racer. There's not a lot of fuel injected ones around.

What caused the low-side? That information might just help another rider avoid the same accident.

It was a combination of operator error and slick/cold tires.

I was very excited to be able to ride again after 2 days of having the bike parked, so in my excitement I misjudged my entering speed when making a right turn. I must have been going around 25mph. Leaned farther than I should have with cold/slick tires and BAM!

Moral of the story: Take it easy for the first few miles after washing bike, ALWAYS wear gear, and get insured by Progressive (they were super quick with taking care of everything and I'm very satisfied with their service)

Yeah, 25 on entry into a hard-right is a bit quick. I'm not really sure of my entry speed into a known hard-right, but 25 is 'round about my exit speed.

Cold and slick tires as well? BAM is probably exactly what it felt like. No warning at all, just the ground hitting you and your bike. Even at 25mph that had to be hurtful. I'm darn glad you had your jacket on and things weren't worse.

It's cool Progressive was so quick. They totaled your bike though, after a 25mph slide?

Yeah, it was totalled. But no big deal. They compensated me for all the aftermarket parts and the bike very generously. I now have a 2014 Street Triple and I didn't have to pay more than $700 out of pocket to pay it in full (including a 3 year service contract). I can't rave enough about Progressive and their outstanding service. They rock!

Nice upgrade indeed good sir!
Just remember all the "don'ts" to keep this new baby in good shape, so that you can enjoy the "do's"
