Every time I see a speck or water spot.
I wipe it down with pledge or something when I start seeing bug guts on the tank, so 2-4 rides.I only take the time to really clean it about once a month though (frame, under the rear fender etc).
What is this cleaning thing you speak of?

Unfortunately for me, not enough. I really need to get down and wax mine again. It looks awful right now.
Wipe down every ride. Full wash, chain clean and lube and polish with Pledge every 600 miles.

Twice a week half assed. Wax randomly sometimes not for months then other times three times in a week. I give it a real thorough, take everything off, cleaning 3 times a year. At the start, end, and sometime between the season.

I do a full gear, moto clean, and chain re-lube immediately after every ride; then the bike and gear are perfect and ready to go for the next time.

Except for chain, I'm kinda worried about water and my bike.... no real reason. Every once in a while I wipe her down with a wet cloth, dry, and spray some spray wax or detailer. Once I'm on my bike I pretty much stop caring what she looks like.
I clean my bike on average giving it a bath every week or two. Depending on how many times I ride it in there. If it has been an especially "buggy" week, then I will wash it that week also.

Well, I do a single 250-300 mile ride once a week, and I use chain wax which doesn't last that long, so ya gotta re-apply it frequently. I might check out JKerr's suggested chain lube at some point, but the wax seems to work I guess, no fling.
Kinda like what I do in a way.
I will wash it at the start of the season real quick just to wash off the winter garage dust.
Mid season I will take all the fairings off and wash and hand wax the entire fairings and wash the parts of bike covered by the fairings.
End of season though because it is too cold to have the hose on or mess with the water, I pay my dealer about $30 and they wash it down for me and clean it really good and also clean and wax the chain. Then I am ready to roll the next season. *This works good when you are finally done riding your bike and you cant wash it yourself or clean the chain because you dont want ot be outside in 30-40 degree temps trying to clean the chain and wash the bike. They have done good work for me also so I am happy.
