Helmet Time!!

To those of you who read all the posts on this forum: I got my quarterly bonus. I've had to save as much of that as I could, and then wait until the following payday to order my helmet.

You may recall, I've got an ill-fitting hand me down from the ex. The Shoei RF1000 was still the best helmet I've ever owned. It was a size too small, and only fit me because the insides were so wore out, and I purchased some cheek pads to make it work.

I've done a butt-load of research, and settled on the RF1100 Chroma, medium size, in yellow, from Revzilla.

Those who know me, know I'm a Cyclegear guy. Regardless of the other reasons I shop with them, in this case, their helmet return policy can't be beat.

However, Revzilla's price is OUTSTANDING!! It was also their videos that helped my research. Actually it was beyond help. It was their fitment and review videos that basically helped me choose my helmet over so many others.

So I'm going to drop my hard earned bonus and savings with Revzilla. I seriously hope that the fit is correct, and there are no hot spots. I also seriously hope that I don't have to test their somewhat sketchy return policy.

I'll keep you posted.

revzilla has a good return policy. just don't cut the tags, don't wear it outside or actually ride with the helmet and u should be able to return it if the fitment is off... i've returned stuff to them before and they are very straight forward...

I currently own a Shoe rf-1100 Pious helmet that I bought at Cycle gear and I love it. It's an expensive helmet but I loved that it not only had the DOT sticker (like every other helmet) but it also was SNELL approved meaning it went through additional safety tests and passed.

It has awesome venting, looks awesome, and I would recommend it for sure.

VERY NICE HELMET! CONGRATS!!! I was going between the RF1100 and the Aria. Finally settled on the RX-Q 2xl, but then at the cycle show found I should actually be in the long oval Signet Q 1xl instead..

I have been very happy with Revzilla in the past also.
As previously stated just dont remove any stickers (visor sticker/cling), tags or wear it outside yet. Just toss the helmet on and watch an hour long tv show, then remove it and check it out.

Alot of places say try it for 10-15 minutes. That doesnt work. After I crashed I tried an Icon Airframe in 2xl and it felt good for about 15 minutes so I purchased it... Then after riding in it for about 40-45 minutes, I found I get a hotspot on my forhead and such headaches I cant see or think straight! Figure turning up tv volume in a cool house is a easy way to pass the time and really test it!

Scheduled delivery is Monday. So much money, so much time to make it happen. Kind of like getting my FZ6R! Frickin' pins and needles here! It's difficult to describe. Monday. *sigh*

I also have/had an Icon Airframe. Great helmet... for 45 minutes to an hour at a time. I had the exact same issue; hotspot on forehead and eventually a headache.

I just got a Bell Star helmet and today went on a four hour trip. I forget to even wonder if it was getting uncomfortable. It's like wearing nothing at all. Especially with the transitions visor on it. I don't even think about it except when I'm changing lanes and do my head check. The eye opening width is way too narrow. That and the loudness of the carbon fiber version are my only complaints with the helmet so far. But since my Triumph's new slip on exhaust is so loud I always wear earplugs anyway, so the wind noise isn't a deal breaker.

Had the same issues with the Airframe, which was my first helmet in a long time. Good helmet, but not for my shape head.

When I went to Shoei recently, I got the Neotec. I'm more of a round-town and sport-touring guy, and I wear glasses, and track use is a complete non-issue for me, so the modular style makes more sense for me than it probably does for a lot of you. Love the drop-down sunvisor.

I had no problem swapping my helmet from revzilla. came in, too small, got the new one fast.

I think I'm spoiled for life with this helmet. Comfiest helmet ever. Airflow with all the vents open is real nice. Nice aerodynamic design.

So, who are the lucky ones that end up buying the returned helmets?!

I have no way of knowing that the Shoei that I got was not previously tried on by somebody else and returned. I do know that all the stickers were in place, including the ones on the face shield, the instructions were still all intact, and the tag was still connected to the chin strap with a plastic barb. In short, I know that it wasn't used. It may have been tried on then returned, but the return terms pretty much don't allow you to really use it in any way.

I have no idea how many people try on a helmet or jacket that I buy in a store either, or when they last showered.
