FREE NESBA Track Day on FZ6R

I saw a promotion in the latest Sport Bike mag that anyone that purchases a Yamaha sportbike (including the FZ6R) get a free 1 year membership to NESBA and a free track day, which includes demos of other Yamaha sport bikes.

I was wondering if anyone here had done that. If so, how'd the FZ6R do?? I love the bike, and enjoy riding it. It's safe and not intimidating at the slightest, yet it has power that you won't outgrow quickly. But I don't see it being able to roll with 1000s or even other non-newb-friendly 600s (like the R6). Still, I'd be curious to read about any experiences about the FZ6R at the track (or any track experiences.)

To anyone interested, the number for NESBA is 877-AT-NESBA. Supposedly you'll recieve a coupon code via email to sign up a few weeks after you purchase your bike. I haven't gotten anything and it's been almost 6 weeks.

Yep, I bought my bike in February and received the coupon in April. I haven't made it to any trackday events yet. I planned to go to two separate ones, but my transportation to them backed out on me last minute. It sucks not having a means to transport my bike to the track, seeing how the nearest one to me is at least a 3 hour ride.

You go out to learn what your bike can do and that there are people there to help you. It sounds like a safe place to test your limits and what you are comfortable with on your bike. I'm 41 so I'm not into seeing how far I can push my bike, I just love to ride.

contact your dealer and ask for the information. Then rip them a new one for not telling you about it when you bought your bike.

I just googled it.. NESBA is an east coast thing (so it seems from the search results, please correct me if I am wrong)

You are right, they are pretty much an East Coast organization. However, there is a participating track in Kent, WA. I'm not sure how close that is to you, but it may be worth checking into. What do you have to lose....it's free.

Cool. I've been looking into it and a lotta hardcore guys have done it. There's YouTube videos of guys riding on some of the nearby tracks, and one I found that was taken at Road Atlanta (the nearest track to me), was pretty cool to watch. However, these guys were clearly riding 1000s. They had the lean going and everything! I could see myself causing an accident cuz I'd be riding at parking lot speed out there

But I'd love to get some good instruction using the bike. It sounds like it'd be fun too. They've also got a lotta reqs for just bringing your bike out there. I read the NESBA manual, and it's not something where you just show up and ride. They've got a tech inspection where they go all over your bike and check your gear (racing suits are pretty much required). If you don't pass muster, you're done for the day with NO REFUNDS. Beginners don't have stringent reqs, but advanced guys have to tape/disconnect their brake lights and headlamps, take off their mirrors, wire their oil caps, etc. Seems like a lotta work. I wouldn't want to mod my bike like that; if I ever went hardcore into track racing, I think I'd buy a used bike and leave it w/o the mirrors, lights, etc. and just use it for the track.

True, there are a ton of requirements, but it's all for your and the other riders' safety. NESBA doesn't mess around, they will kick you to the curb if you are horsing around or riding wrecklessly. That's what makes them such an awesome organization.

What's nice is that you can ask the experienced control riders and they will give you one-on-one attention and instruction on how to improve your riding skills. These are the guys you see flying around the track, taking hairpin turns one-handed while looking back over their shoulder. Great group of guys though.

If you think you would like to try it out, but don't want to commit to a whole day, they have introductory sessions that are free. You get two free sessions and then get the option to stay the rest of the day if you like it (of course paying the fee for that day).

haha yeah all the casinos are banning me because I got no cash so I stick to the arcade since its free lol

I have (3) separate addresses because I had an apartment, but then I got an awesome job as a house sitter for a year, so then I got rid of teh apt. then had my mail forwarded to my parents house.. Simple yet confusing haha!

Where in Oregon? I might be willing to come down from WA if its northern Oregon..
