Finally painted my forks!

I just noticed the 2010 Raven has black forks and it looks like the handlebars are black also. IMO it's nice! Think I might have found the "winter project".

Black forks....

Wow! That looks really good. You took of the FZ6R sticker, mine is still there. I actually thought about going red with the forks, as they align with the sticker. I wish I could photo test it somehow FIRST!! Anyway, nice job. Did you paint the insides of them somehow? What's the trick?

And I love that your bike has it's own couch and putting green!!:justkidding:

Yeah I took the brake calipers off. The whole process took me about one and a half hour.

Here's my favorite combination of poisons. I used the same combination to paint the alloy wheels of my truck about 8 years ago, and it's still holding up!

Since my stand didn't allow me to take off the front wheel, I simply masked off all the surrounding stuff with bags and painter's tape.

After about only 2 hours, I had a finished product! I'm very satisfied with it...there's just a few remaining areas to touch up with flat black model paint, and of course the inside of the forks are still silver, but there's a nice gradient to it and it's hardly noticable.

Your pictures are no longer valid and you don't list them of the paint you used for this. I'm going to do my handle bars this week and want to use the same paint you did for the fork. Anyone remember what paint it was?

uhm... I vaguely remember krylon, and three cans... some pre-spray, some black and some clear coat..... but what specific cans.... I'm at a loss.

That's lame that the pictures vanished...

I used Dupli-color Adhesion Promotor, Krylon Ultra-Flat black paint, then topped it off with a couple light coats of Dupli-color High Performance Wheel Coating. Hope that helps...
