Hey Gang, Sorry I've been away for several months now, but wanted to drop a line and say I'm back, healthy, and enjoying the almost daily rides on the ol yeller FZ6R.

I have a work related injury that tore my labrum in my left shoulder and needed surgery to repair. Worst part about the entire recovery was the sleeping in a recliner for a couple weeks. Although it is not moving as it once was before the injury, it is way better than before the surgery.

I've been riding back and forth to work for several weeks now. Really enjoying the 52 mpg average. Recently turned 10,000 miles the other day, (bike had 6900 on it when I bought it last year). I replaced the front tire today since it was very worn. Purchased from Amazon, right at 70 bucks for Continental Conti-Motion, or something along that name. Same brand as my rear tire I replaced last year.

I have been thinking of upgrading to a bigger bike since I'm 6'5" and 250 lbs, but decided against it for the fun I have on this one, as well as the MPG. It gets me where I need to go, I enjoy it, it looks good, and if I look like Donkey Kong riding it then I'm OK with that too. I am not riding across country on it, so work travel and occasional joy rides are just fine for me.

I'll try my best to stop by here and join in on some discussions in the evenings. I've missed you guys. :)

Glad to have ya back and in good health!

My last tank I went 154 miles on 2.8 gallons so over 55 mpg. Tucking in under the windscreen cuts down on the wind resistance a lot and I find I don't get knocked around as bad on windy rides.

I should be receiving my Puig racing windshield Monday. I wonder if that will affect MPG at all? I'll try to focus on tucking more and see if that changes anything on the next tank.

I always buy Shell Premium,(93 octane), gas. Wouldn't think it would make too much of a difference but wanted to point out what I use. I'm old, and not as flexible as I once was, so I normally don't tuck down much. Windscreen is mostly pointless for me, since I'm a giant. I have original equipment on the bike. Nothing has been replaced other than a fender eliminator. I would like to one day replace the exhaust, but I'll wait till I have to replace it. I'm old school I suppose. No need to replace something that is working. I do with the exhaust was a bit louder thou. Also, I'm no speed freak and take it easy on the daily rides most of the time unless there is a want-to-be muscle car in the next lane beside me making all sorts of noise waiting for the light to turn green. Then, of course, I nail it and see him drift behind me in the dust until he floors it and goes whipping past me. That's one of my little enjoyments in my rides. I've tricked a few into getting pulled over for speeding the last several weeks. Then I laugh all the way home! I quickly get to the speed limit and cruise during these episodes. Muscle cars can't take it that I got the jump on them and think they have to prove themselves. Maybe it's evil to do them that way, but I find it fun. ;)

My travel distance to work is 27 miles or so each way, very little traffic near my workplace, but nothing that has me sitting more than the time for a few traffic lights. Good thing too, riding gear gets ya a little warm when sitting still.
