Aloha from Hawaii

Have you been here before? Reason I ask is, if you've been here before and saw all the tourist-y things (Pearl Harbor, USS Arizona, Waikiki, etc) then I'd suggest going to Maui. I have not been there before but I hear it is gorgeous. I'm sure there are tour packages for Maui. Benefit for Maui is not very populated (since most come to Oahu), scenary, etc. Drawbacks.. gas is crazy expensive and I think hotels are little more than Oahu.

Now if you want the typical "Hawaii" experience, come to Oahu. Here you can go to the USS Arizona memorial, see Pearl Harbor, go to Waikiki beaches, etc. Cheapest hotels are in Honolulu itself. Ones in Waikiki start at over 125 a night and parking fee is like 30 a day. We're used to it because the cost of living here is so high, but tourists need to save up and expect the worst.

If and when you do come to Oahu, make sure you check out North Shore as well. That's where they do the crazy surfing and stuff and sunsets are amazing there. Good food too.

They do have motorcycles for rent and you can go around the island (along the coast) in about 3 hours. Awesome ride.

So there it is.. and since I live here I do have to tell you "Hawaii" is it's own island.. aka "The Big Island". Oahu is where Honlulu is hahah everyone just say Hawaii and expect the locals to think Oahu = Hawaii. Nope!

nope Ive never been and no better time than now im 25 and its only going downhill from here lol.


Thanks for the input I will more than likely go for cheaper considering the tickets and hotels add up fast. but would def still want surfing lessons tours ect

can you give me some recommendations on what island to visit and hotels that are in good areas all obviously at lowest cost possible?? thanks in advance for you input I will do some research on my end

I went to Oahu with my ex.We used Kayak.com for our airfare and stayed at Turtle Bay which is on the North Shore.The resort was really pricey, I'm definetly not reccomending a entire week there.But it might be worth a couple nights to you if you want to end up at a place you can both drink at safely while doing minor activities like hiking or snorkeling?The place was really nice just expensive to me.Kayak.com was great with our airfare though.

We went to Bass Pro Shop before we left and bought our own snorkeling gear.We used that stuff alot since our hotel had private beaches.It was nice to have anyway once we saw other people dig through used snorkels on the trips we booked.We also did a shark cage trip that we both really enjoyed, google North Shore Shark Adventures if it interests you.

Our hotel had free breakfeast, so we got a mini fridge in our room and went grocery shopping for lunch foods.We only ate out once a day to help keep the trip cheap.You can sign up for the buyer club discount at the local grocery store chain, ABC Stores, it wasn't much but I probably saved $50 with the discount just on lunch meat, drinks etc.

Pearl Harbor was great, it wasn't very expensive and you can spend a afternoon there easily.

That would be sweet!!! I would love to cruise Hawaii I won't be going back anytime soon if ever
