the nov issue of motorcyclist has a coupon for a 69% discount on a torque wrench from harbor freight.

just drove over and picked it up now i have a extra one..... not bad and comes with a life time warranty.

regular price was 32.99 and with the coupon it's only $9.99 how can you go wrong at that price.

I would be hesitant to trust the accuracy of the torque applied by such a cheap tool. Also just an fyi always unload the torque setting when you're done with it.

Harbor Freight Torques are complete shit from what i've been reading. I wouldnt trust it for nothing on something that needed to be pretty accurate torque. As far as the, "you get what you pay for", I'd have to agree on torque wrenches...

I've seen tests on these where they just dont work right out of the box, out of spec right out of the box, and just keep torquing and never stop, causing a strip or busted bolt.

I have a local Harbor Freight here and I wouldnt trust half the crap that I've seen in there. For simple type stuff, its ok, but precision stuff... no way.

Come to think of it, when I was doing my TBR exhaust I did tighten one of the header nuts too tight and caused the bracket to bend a little since the torque wrench never stopped, it just kept on letting me tighten it. I have one of the HF wrenches...

Exactly. Just not something I can trust. Now using it on something that takes less than 10ft/lb, such as the oil pan, etc is just asking for big problems.
