2010 Meetup, rides, etc.

May 8th for the skyline trip.. i am ready.. it's not too soon for me..i belive we can do it a couple of times this year.. before the weather turns unfavouarble again meetup in MD or VA , i am ok with both.. does anyone else in the region think it's a good start for the season or want to suggest another date..

OK, I'm trying to get some riders from another forum together for this, so May 8th is THE DATEopcorn:

We still need to decide details, I'm all for a N. side meetup and splitting at several points depending on riders pain thresholds. Last year we went to the bottom and split from there, two of us heading up 81 and one heading back East on 64. There are several exits that ppl can take before doing the entire 110 miles to the bottom.
Just keep in mind, if it takes us 6 hours to go to the bottom, you still have 2+ hours to get home. So keep that in mind when deciding how far you want to go.

If your in the MD, VA, D.C. area I'd suggest joining this meetup group: NoVA Sportbike Association (NVSA) (Alexandria, VA) - Meetup.com

They have weekly get togethers (Wed. and now Sat.) and it's a way for us to get more sport bike riders from our area together.

Does this sound like a place for all to meet up and head out to skyline? Somewhere there would be right off the beltway for those of you in MD and near 66 which is the long haul out to skyline.
Chime in, I think the other forum is looking to firm up some places and times to meet/pickup riders a. Me being out West, I'll probably meet up closer to skyline, can't see myself riding all the way out to Tysons/Merryfield just to turn around and come back, though it is only about an hour 1/2 away...

Good deal, may 8th is THE DATE i'll try running a quick check to see if i can find a common meeting spot and routes from other forums, heading out from a common spot makes sense, if not then i will just pick any one 3 hrs. long route to reach bottom end of skyline and then ahhhhh... start the joy ride:mikebike:

Dude, where you been? I've had like 6 rides this year when our meetup spot was at the WAWA in Gainesvile! Matter of fact, I just did VA Beach overnight trip with one other and we met up at WAWA yesterday morning.

You're near the best twistie road in the area, 211 (see avatar!)... just be careful if you ride it, don't do it alone.
