Since they were clearing out 2009 models earlier this year I figured I'd save the $1000 and go with the older model. Mind you, I loved the look of the 2010 Raven with the gold wheels and decals. So I did the next best thing.

I ordered the 2010 decals off of Stadium Yamaha's website and spent a very tedious afternoon peeling the existing ones off. I also painted all the visible fairing bolts black to match, using about 4 or 5 coats of duplicolor paint. Last but not least I applied matching gold wheel striping (5mm) on the black wheels. I like the look and considering that the mod only cost me about $40 I'm quite pleased with the improvement.

I think my next mod will be to paint the front forks black to match as well, and eventually get a fender eliminator too.

very nice!
I see a winter project for me looming in the not-so-distant future.

Thanks everyone! As for removing the fairing stickers, I strongly recommend removing the fairings, bringing them indoors and doing it while sitting on a couch. It took me close to 3 hours to remove every last bit of residue. I don't know if it was because my technique was lousy on the first fairing, but the FZ6R sticker left pretty much all of its adhesive on the fairing. I used some Meguiars car wax to "soften" it, then proceeded with elbow grease and a microfiber cloth.

looks like he has it parked close to the wall and decided to bend it forward :\

You got it. I always fold the mirror closest to the wall to get it as close as possible. I live in a condo and share my spot with my car, so every inch counts.

Blame it on the FZ's rabbit ear mirrors I guess! I may eventually upgrade to R6S mirrors or aftermarket ones, though. My only hesitation is that that the stock mirrors work extremely well visibility-wise; but we'll see.

You probably can't see it from the pics, but I also added the comfort seat as well at the same time. I actually haven't ridden it yet since I did the seat and decals, looking forward to see if it will improve the numb-bum I tend to get after 45 minutes of riding!

WOW, that job looks great!

Perhaps instead of painting the forks, you might want to try sash tape? It's what automotive manufacturers use to "black out" door frames in cars...
