honestly, with the oxford grips, I didn't add anything, suckers were a pain to push on.... now, after riding for a while, they will "slip", but not much at all, if they do start to slip more, I'll just get grip glue and glue 'em on in a small spot.
idle 1300 rpm, if it's there, it's not the throttle sticking... if it's idling higher,
-check for kinks/adjust slack in cable
-lube throttle cable! if it's been sitting, a quick lube and working it will free it up (I like dri-slide, but any oil will do, just hard to get it into the tube)
Ride reports - ADVrider
one of the biggest ADV sites around... I love reading through the trip reports, lots of good pics and to hear about all the friendly people along the way. Some people on that site even offer up tenting spots to help each other out, one guy hosts his farmland during Indy...
No carbs, fuel-injected. Check air filter as Scott stated, critters may have made a home in there, starving your air. If you do see evidence of critters, check plug wires and other wires to make sure they didn't chew them up.
After that, drain the gas, put in a couple oz of Sea Foam, fill with...
This says it all, even in Fall / Spring weather, heated grips help.
Add grip guards to block wind and heated grips will work even better. For me, anything below freezing temps and I don't ride anyways, too much gravel/sand/salt on the roads around here
easy to install, to get the old ones off, use a box cutter or razor blade and gently cut a slit, then pull them off. no issues with current draw, I run these and a 65w heated vest
doesn't matter how tall you are... once she gets over the balance point, it's a dead weight lift straddled over the bike trying to keep 480 pounds up.... it happened to me once or twice when I started riding, nothing you can do but help it land softly, and I'm 6"1'...
I have those sames marks...
I know a few members have gone with renthal, yes 7/8", but how much sweep/rise/etc. changes depends on which series you go with. few threads around here

nothing specific to our bike, but a quick goggle search shows yamaha codes for that have to do with TPS... but for r6, a 14-20 is supposed to be good. kind of a startup throttle position check... not sure why a 17 would keep it from starting.
couple of the other older yamaha forums say, check...
Welcome as well!
those three bikes are very similar, can't go wrong with any of them, basic entry level sport bikes that won't get you into trouble too fast, but plenty of fun.
