ADV Bikers

It's not really a useful thread, nor is it about the 6r. Still...

I was off today and had to run some errands. As as I was going through the center of my town a couple of guys on ADV bikes, in full rain gear, with the hard side bags and gear piled high went through town.

I've no idea where they were from or where they were going. To them my home town was no doubt a quaint little point of interest on their epic journey.

They probably never leave the pavement for more than a few miles on their ADV bikes. Still I was jealous. Not of their bikes. Of the journey.

If I could find their blog or forum, I doubt Hartsville, SC would even garner an entry, unless they stopped to eat or something.

I NEED a rode trip. I need an Asphalt Adventure. Deep thinking ahead...

I have done a few 6 hour rides on my 6r. I'm sure if you find a solution to the stock seat, it would make an excellent sport tourer!

Might advise against on leaving the comfort of the pavement, but Im sure there is quite a bit of trouble you could still get into!

Some of us have left the pavement...and it is fun...but like you said it can get trecherous...

one of the biggest ADV sites around... I love reading through the trip reports, lots of good pics and to hear about all the friendly people along the way. Some people on that site even offer up tenting spots to help each other out, one guy hosts his farmland during Indy motogp... just a cool site with trip reports from around the world.

I've taken my 6R on road trips and camping trips and it's worked out fine. My Great Basin Giant Loop bag fits the 6R better than the DRZ400 I bought it for. I just picked up a Triumph Tiger 800 XRx a few weeks ago. Waaay *****in' ride. I see bigger trips in my future. The 6R may be for sale.

Amen to that, the biggest problem for any distance on this bike is the seat. I had mine done by eddie at dirt road custom and what a difference. Search Dirt Road Custom for reviews by several people.
