Bike stolen :( Need some advice

Guys, thanks for all of the support and helpful tips. I just got back from my trip and am now prepared to deal with all this nonsense. Filed the police report tonight. Spoke with the front desk again and was told that management would be reviewing everything tomorrow. There should be video...

Bike stolen :( Need some advice

Haven't been on here for a while, but I return with sad news: my bike has been stolen. 2011 GSX-R750, barely broken in with 1000 miles. I'm living in LA in one of the newer condo buildings downtown, renting from a private owner. 24/7 security, access controlled and very well-lit garage under...

Where to self-service bike in LA (or any urban area)?

Hey Detrich, any idea what your friend's building is called or what the address is? I wonder if we might be in the same building/set of buildings done the same developer. I'm at 1100 S Hope -- aka the Luma building. Sounds like I should probably make friends with someone who has their own...

Where to self-service bike in LA (or any urban area)?

I'm moving to downtown LA in a couple of weeks (woo!) and will be living in a large condo building. While I have a spot in the garage under the building, the condo rules prohibit doing any sort of mechanical work in there. Does anyone know of a self-service garage sort of place where I could...

    A Love Letter

The FZ6R is a great bike. I love the GSX-R I just bought, but the FZ6R was definitely a much more well-rounded machine. I rode my friend's ‘07 Ninja 650R yesterday for another friend who just bought it from him. It just didn't feel as *right* as the FZ6R. The handlebars were just not quite at...

What is up with all the sales?

There does seem to be a flood of FZ6R sales recently -- mine included. I think for many people the FZ6R is seen as a suitable "starter" to step into a sportbike. The bike is ergonomically easy to learn on without losing the aggressive styling. In my particular case, I upgraded to a GSX-R750 and...

    2010 black/gold FZ6R for sale - Chicago area

It's funny you mentioned that, actually. A silver 2004 RX-8 was the first "new car" I had when I graduated college. Loved the styling of the car -- still do. It's probably no coincidence that the styling of the coupe version of the Z4 appeals to me as well. :D

    Progressive Motorcycle Show- Chicago

I did, but there were several other people there and my friends were walking around with me, so I didn't wait to get measured. I'm not really in the market for a $600-700 helmet, anyway (at least not currently).

    Progressive Motorcycle Show- Chicago

I was there on Saturday for a few hours. It was my first time to a motorcycle show and it actually exceeded my expectations. The best part was being able to sit on a lot of bikes that I probably wouldn't have gone out of my way to sit on, like Harleys and less common bikes like MV Agustas...

    Riding Pants

Just bought the Rev'it Gear Pants, a slim-fitting mesh/leather hybrid with a removable liner. Really excited to try it out once the riding season starts. Hopefully another month and we'll be seeing temps regularly in the 50s!

    Bikes in Europe

The Europeans generally are very civilized about how they conduct their business in traffic. Yielding to the right to passing cars, signaling before turning, paying attention to the road and having good situational awareness, etc. It's one thing I really wish we'd emulate. I'm all for tiered...

    Question for you guys.

If you need to spend the money to be happy, then by all means go for it. I just didn't detect that need and IMHO having extra money saved isn't a bad thing. :) If there's a second bike that you're really in love with, buy it. If the $8000 in your current bike represents a good investment and...
