So, what is the purpose of this post?

He'd probably be alive had he just stopped? There are alot of purposes to this post. The majority of motorcycle accidents are because of rider error.

Don't be a a$$hole on your bike.

+1

The post is a simple admonition and reminder...
We *all* get lax... and sometimes careless...

Ride safe...

A cautionary tale. Thanks.

As soon as I can find some good armored pants, I'll be ATGATT, and not just MOTGATT. Also need some new boots - my big steel toed Redwings make shifting on this bike a little tricky. The toe doesn't slide neatly under the shifter.

At 3 am speeding without a helmut. I'm not sure how it could of helped but obviously darwanism prevails. He did hit a building.

I was running around in a pair of work boots and it made shifting a little difficult. Went to the local Cycle gear store here in my area and picked up a set of Bilt Boots for $75 and no regrets.

So this rider with no helmet hitting a building probably had a death wish in my opinion and hopefully he can now rest in peace.

He's not the only one. Just last night I was driving home at about midnight and I'm passing a tractor trailer in my car. I watch my mirrors like a hawk when I'm driving - I like to have escape routes at all times. No one in my blind spot, no overlaps, etc. Well I pass the truck and as I check my rear view to go back into the right lane, there's a single headlight swerving between the me and the truck, taking the lane I was signaling into. That d-bag has a death wish too. Unfortunately, these are the idiots that make us all look bad.

I and others have adjusted the shift lever 1 inch higher to be able to get the toe of big boots under. Once you get used to the new position it works well. Ride safe!

Some of us actually go out of our way to be courteous to cagers and pedestrians to help our image.

yes I try to do this as much as I can.
ill let others in my lane even after they almost hit me because they did not see me.

many times I see people lights out or tires low ill slow down or catch up to them to let them know.

I try to do the same thing on my bicycle. We come under such fire, and so much of it is deserved when we don't respect the road we are on, and the other people on it. Same goes for motorcycles - when I see big groups acting like idiots, or one guy driving like a complete arse, it makes us all look bad. Just like the slowpoke driving the Prius in the left lane...

See a guy a few years ago coming up to a red light on a Fat Boy and some old lady wipped it over in front of him and he flew over the bars and hit the pavement face first and slid. Lucky for this dude he had a full face helmet on and not a half helmet or he would have been toast. His helmet was destroyed from the mouth piece up so that would have been his face.

So how often do we see people riding Harleys with half helmets? I see at least 95% in my area riding like that. This guy was so lucky to have gotten up that morning to pick the right helmet. He even said that he wasn't even going to wear that helmet that morning.

In seattle. Hmm I would say 99% of hog riders wear the half helmet . And most of the casualties i seee on the news are harley riders. But as u probably realize, there are a lot of shitttty cage drivers around here as well.
