Hey all

Put a 8k blue kit in the bike for the new headlight. was wondering if anyone knew if they made a smoking headlight housing like they do the tail light.

Put a 6k blue kit in the bike for the new headlight. was wondering if anyone knew if they made a smoking headlight housing like they do the tail light.

Pretty much not if you have searched google and ebay. Those are the two main places I would look google might give you results that don't match. It shouldn't be too difficult to apply tint film to the headlight for a smoked look.

Hit it with a coat or two of VHT Nightshades. As I've learned lately (especially when it's cold outside) drop that can in a bucket of hot water for 15 minutes first for good atomization.

Let dry. Possibly do some light compounding to smooth out. Tah-dah.

im think its illegal to have a smoked headlight but you can get the projector kit and blackout the inside of your headlights housing like i did???

You are true, but in my area, probably 1/10 or 20 cars has tail lights smoked so black you can barely see the lights. I doubt you get pulled over for a coat or two of nightshades.

However, if I ever take my headlight apart for a projector, that looks AWESOME! Paint the inside!!

Even without projector, you can do like posted... Open up the case and paint the inside black. Think that looks real good.

the only issue is without the projector you probably don't want to paint the reflector black like i did... or your headlight will suck!!!

I don't know how it would turn out, but would think that it would not work without the reflector....

Painting the inside of the housing on that projector to match the body colour would look pretty sweet, too.

Thanks for all the advice. Think im gonna go the night VHT route. Heres a video of a guy who painted his bike lights with it. looks pretty decent.

Check out the 4th gen camaros with the "whistler" mod. This is where they take the headlight apart and paint the non projected portions. Looks amazing.

I went out and got a can of the night shades can someone give me a run down of how to take the headlight housing out so i dont have to spend an hour trying to figure it out.

Thanks for the thread. But I thought that was a bit much work just to put a few coats of paint up. I just rigged the panel with lots of tape and plastice bags then went to work. heres some photos.

put plastic and tape up and started the sanding proccess

after sanding and putting 2 super light coats of VHT nightshades and 3 coats of gloss

close up of the job the shine is from my camera flash not the bulb

still all the light goes through with the 8k blue bikemaster hid kit

I have to admit, I was a little worried how it would turn out, but that looks pretty cool. Wouldn't be a look that I would want personally, but definitely gives a different look. Great job, very different.

I wouldn't want to do anything to restrict light output at all.
