Well, I wanted to get a smoked screen, but on my budget I can't just yet. I read up on painting the screen and heard several different pros/cons. I ended up purchasing a can of gloss black VALSPAR paint for plastic. I painted the inside of the screen and it turned out absolutely amazing! :D I will check it out after a few rides in the HOT Texas sun to see if it holds up.

i may have to do this mod in the near future. thanks for sharing

Looks like you did a fine job, I did mine exactly like you did yours and it hasn't chipped or cracked yet and its been going on 3 years. You will be fine!

I may have to try that one. How hard is it to get a nice smooth coat without getting on the other side of the screen or did you tape paper on the other side? I'd love to try this since I want a black screen and like you am short on cash for mods. I don't really need to be able to see through the screen. Any prep work or how to information would be appreciated.

Thanks

I simply washed the inside very well with dishsoap and thoroughly dried. I taped the front of the windscreen around the edged with blue paiters tape (more expensive then the paint!) I sprayed several light coats ensuring there were no runs...I elated, the heat hasn't done anythig and it still looks great!

I've painted lots of stuff over the years. I think I'll try this in the next few days. This is how I am planning on doing it.

1. Remove and clean windshield really well with degreaser

2. Use painters tape to mask the edges

3. Using paint of choice, start with 1 or two really light coats (maybe not have full coverage yet, that's ok). Follow with a medium coat that should give you full coverage. I'd say probably 10-15 minutes between coats. Make sure you start spraying before you pass and keeping spraying through your pass. Spray one direction. Start with edges.

Hill Country, how close was I to what you did?

Right on with what I did, let us know how it turns out!

So I wanted a black windscreen but was strugaling with getting rid of my monster sign that makes my bike "The mosnter" it is...

So this is what I came up with.... I attached one before pic and two after.

Le me know what you think.

Great job....that turned out really nice!
