There is a really good description of what the new transmission does and operates in the Sport Rider August 2011 issue page 82.

Basically:
3/4 lighter than a DCT
Less parts
stronger gears
fluid motion.

so now the question - does Honda have to disclose the inner working details of this, or are they protected by some secret racing parts clause?

suppose they work on this behind closed doors of their trucks, or the competition could get someone to video tape them taking it off and on the bike to get a close look

i have no idea how it actually works but, it would satisfy me if a qualified person(s), was able to see the inner workings and deem them as "legal", and at the same time have to sign a confidentiality form so as not to have to share new technology... no?
