I just find that hard to believe. There is less frictional loses at lower rpm. Why do those members who change the front sprocket get better mpg?Probably because this bike gets better gas mileage at 6-7k then at 3-5k.
I wondered the same thing although the mpg is better about 6k to 7kThe difference between 5th and 6th gear is really small. Why didn't Yamaha make six hear a cruising gear with much taller ratio? Like the corvette
The 6R get the best mileage on my ride around 6500 RPM (less fuel % on the data logger)I just find that hard to believe. There is less frictional loses at lower rpm. Why do those members who change the front sprocket get better mpg?

We don't gear up to rev lower, we gear up to go faster at a given RPM! LOL
check your:so what you guys are saying is, 30 miles to the gallon isnt good gas mileage...
MAy be a bit off topic but....I got my bike with zero miles and a full tank. Im keeping rpms right at about 6200 on freeway which has been 90% thus far and I got 134 miles to this tank. I rode twisties today keeping the speed at about 50 so 5k or so but varrying from 3rd to 5th gear and only got about 100 miles...so mehcheck your:
tire pressure
air filter
change gas stations
shift at 5-7krpm....
lean forward, not straight up
etc. etc. etc.
