what is a good price for fz6r tires

Hi Guys,

For the summer will have to get some new tires for my fz6r. I found at tire express bridgestone tires for $130.

Is this a good price, or should I wait for better deals ? Also I live in Boston and I am wondering if winter has any effect on prices for motorcycle tires.

I just bought a set of pilot road 2's for spring. They worked very well for my SV650. What makes it even better is that I got the set for free. Thank you AMEX :D

I wouldn't have even thought about looking on Amazon for tires for some reason. Did you have any issues with the shipping from them? Definitely liking the look / specs of the Michelin Pilot Road 2's and Amazon seems to have one of the best prices available.

Probably going to attempt to change the tires out myself after having the dealership mount the tires on the rims. Any specs / tricks I should know about before tackling this chore? All input is appreciated as always.

Is that for the set? I've heard a lot about the Shinko Raven 009s being a very good tire and for less than $170/set. I'm close to replacing mine and have read a lot of positive reviews about them.

Here's a little break down that I just sent Bobby on Facebook about the different tires I've tried and I'll add the approximate prices I paid. I do get some good pricing on tires from a friend who owns the shop where I get my work done and I have him mount them too.

- Pirelli Diablo Rosso: This is not a commuter tire at all. They commuter stripped in less than 2000 miles without me commuting. lol. The edge grip was incredible, but the profile was so crowned, the sides were nearly vertical. So in a 160 on our bike, you left an inch of chicken strip at full lean with the pegs on the ground and feelers removed. That may explain why the edge grip seemed so high because I never actually got to the edge. I think for a superbike with a 190 tire they'd be great, but not for our bike. You just can't use the whole tire. They heat up extremely fast too. One or two quick spurts and hard break applications and they're pretty much up to temp.
Front 120/70/17 = $100
Rear 160/60/17 = $140

-BT016: I liked these tires. I tried them in a 170 rear as well as a 160. I'll never run a 170 again. The narrow wheel pinched the tire so much that it crowned the tire to the point it looked narrower than the 160 I put on it later. Plus it felt odd because the profile of the rear didn't work with the front like that. When I put the 160 on it was MUCH better. The edge grip is good, but not quite as high as the Rosso. High enough though for street riding. 75 in a 35 corner comfortably is about as quick as I would want to go on the street and they handle that kind of riding fine. But the center did flatten out pretty quickly with them as well and again, no commuting. They heated up fairly quickly but not as fast as the Diablo Rosso.
Front 120/70/17 = $100
Rear 160/60/17 = $125
Rear 170/60/17 = $130

- BT023's: I'm really liking these so far. They have the same side compound as the 016's but with a much harder center strip. I'm at about 2000 miles on them now, a large part of that is commuting now. If I run my hand over the profile of the tire, I can feel a very slight amount of flattening, but it's not noticeable at all. Again, with the same side compound, the edge grip is good enough for some very spirited riding when pushing. The only thing I'm really not digging is that they take forever to heat up with that hard compound center. Which doesn't really make since when heat is generated by the side wall flexing and they've got the same side walls. But they just seem to take a while to feel like they're up to temp, especially on cold mornings (40ºF or less) going to work.
