What GoPro to purchase

When considering purchasing a GoPro camera, take a look at this video. It's the best comparison/information video I have seen bar none. Very informative.

Thanks SpawnXX, watching that in 1080p helps show the difference in detailed image capturing. I will stick with my HD Hero 2. Maybe I'll buy the next next generation but the difference in quality of the black versus what I've got now isn't worth $400 at least not for what I do.

I bought the black one and regreted a little bit. The ultra super high resolutions, my computer can't even handle. The highest resolution I got it to handle without problems was 1080 60 fps. all the other ones above that the video takes too long to load and when it does sound is all f up and bunch of green boxes flashes on the screen.

If you don't have a gaming or super designer computer with a monster video card. Silver is more than enough.

I bought the Three. It's itty bitty. Concerning Resolution? I didn't buy it for that.

It's small. It's proven. It'll shoot way more res than I'll ever need to post to the web.

The GoPro Android app is pretty cool, too.If one is concerned with precise aiming, it is helpful to be able to see it on your cell phone screen.

It's not necessary, though. The lens is so wide angle that at any resolution it just has to be pointed in the general direction of where you want to shoot.

However, the thing crashes a lot. It doesn't want to delete videos that you've transferred off the card. Sometimes it doesn't even want to charge. It locks up if you are using wifi, and turn off the power to the camera.

The above issues I have so far been able to solve by removing the battery from the back and then reinserting. Still, irritating if one wants to ensure a full charge and empty card for an important run.

Battery life is limited to the hours you can count on one hand and if you're shooting in Hd, your memory card is gone pretty quick, too.

I can't tell you if that's any better between the Two or the Three. I didn't own the Two.

Overall? I bought the Three because I felt like I got a good deal on it, on Walmart.com, and I've seen nothing to lead me to think that buying the previous generation was better.

If nothing else, wifi is built in, the app is available and the camera is smaller.

The 3 silver is the exact same settings as the hero2 did, the 3 black gets into higher res and the 3 white is about the same specs as a gopro 1.

Did you update your firmware? I have had only 1 lockup on mine causing me to pull the battery. Although I do agree battery life sucks, and file sizes get huge quick and eat up 32gb fast.

Yeah, I updated the firmware. The lock-up hasn't been a huge issue to date. It's just irritating.
