I hope these people survived. That's one brutal collision.
The details on Youtube say that the couple in the car with the dash cam got out with minor injuries. Truck driver was critical. Three people in the white Hyundai were killed.
It all started when the white Hyundai was in an accident elsewhere, the driver blacked out (apparently) and the car just rolled down a hill and onto the middle of the highway. My own reading of the video doesn't seem to match with that. I don't see anywhere the car could have just rolled down onto the roadway from.
A few comments though:
1) US interstates are designed so that things can't accidentally roll out into the middle of them. Older ones may not be as safe, but generally have been upgraded over the years with barriers and guardrails where possible. Korean roads, in my experience, mostly suck.
2) The white car rolling down the hill towards the highway should have been visible, if not to the people in the car with the camera, than to the truck driver. I noticed he hit his brakes a few seconds before impact, then got off them. Not sure if that was just for traffic or if he thought he saw something.
3) That said, sometimes you will be in a situation where there is nothing you can do no matter how much you try. If all the people who should have noticed a car randomly rolling down a hillside did not, and if your view was blocked by traffic (which seems to be the case here) then there's no escape room.

Did you see truck driver? He got thrown out of the cabin. oh my...
OK, after looking at it again on a better screen I can see it. Wonder why the truck did not.
Agree with the point of not being anywhere close behind a vehicle you can't see over or around. I tend not to like doing that even in my car.
That's a wonderful sentiment. Do not be behind a semi, any kind of pickup truck, any sort of mini van, or any sport utility vehicle.
Around here, I've just listed 95% of the vehicles on the road. I should not stay behind them? Granted, I usually don't, because they're slow. But what would you suggest? Before you answer, please keep in mind the implications of being in front of 95% of the vehicles on the road.
a. never drive or ride in someone's blind spot...
b. never "coast" behind larger vehicles that obstruct your perimeter view.
c. never "coast" in your lane with "tunnel vision" and always be scanning ahead and around for potential road hazards.
nice wake up call video... those guys might've avoided that had they not allowed themselves to be coasting behind a huge truck that they couldn't see past.
