I built a manometer in 2012 (http://www.600cc.org/forum/f91/building-manometer-25485/index2.html) and synched the throttle bodies. They were pretty far off. It idled nice and smooth for a while and then seemed to just work itself back to where it was.
I hypothesized that the adjusting screws had vibrated back to where they were happy. I was going to re-synchronize, but I've never gotten around to it. The smoother idle I had simply wasn't important enough for me to justify the time.
If you're just looking for a project, it was fun to collect the parts and build the manometer. I also learned some more about the 6R, and that is always good.

Think im gonna get the Motion pro unit. My friend is gonna pay me $40 to have me do his 09' R1 never been done. I could be the synchronizing whore for the whole town. :sinister:
I have this unit and I'm happy with it. I think it's a little pricey, but it's a great tool, and once you have it, you have it forever. It has a calibration method to run through before using it, which is great. As far as being the synchronizing whore for the whole town, you're probably right!
don't know about the sync, but I paid $220 for valve adjustment + parts(only needed new gasket, but any shims I would have to pay for as well)... and was told, that wasn't bad for my area. it's not a hard job I hear, but time consuming.
sync is easy, just follow that guide I linked to

well i got myself in the dog house today. My g/f and me were arguing over getting the synchronizer for my bike. I told her i could plug the thing into her ears to sync her brain. I was joking but she took it bad.Doh!

I have no idea what a shop would charge, but I think my valve check took me about 3 hours from start to finish, and that was without having to change any shims. Marthy has a good how-to on here. It wasn't hard, just time consuming. One thing about doing it yourself, is you know it got done. I have trust issues with mechanics that I don't know. LOL!

You want to know where you went wrong in that conversation? It was right at the beginning when you brought up getting it. The correct method is to only discuss getting it as you're opening up the UPS package it is in.
