Went on an awesome ride with buffalojump on the beautiful Palouse of Washington today. All was wonderful except I forgot to completely close the pocket on my tank bag that my phone was in. Not very far down the road after lunch I see my iPhone tumbling 5 feet in the air in my mirror.

When I picked it up it looked like this.

But it works perfectly still! :)

Bummer. Does the front side look similar? The 3g and 3gs were easy to repair the screen but the 4/4s repairs scare me lol.
All that glass and metal = one sexy but heavy phone. I like that you don't cover the sleek look with a case though. Every iphone I see is covered by a giant case.

I got lucky the front glass is pristine. Funny thing is I normally have it in said giant case but I took it out a couple days ago to clean it and just didn't have the heart to lock it away again. Too sexy and slim. I figure I'll just use it how it is until number 5 comes out. I have insurance if it quits before then.

How much does the glass run for an iPhone 4?

The rear glass is different, I normally charge about 80 or so to do the whole process. It all depends on what's going on and how much is actually damaged. Sometimes it works out that it's not that bad and I only have to charge 50-60 but I've run into a few where the outer ring of the newer models gets really messed up and I have to replace that as well.

Yah I think as long as its working I'll leave well enough alone. My insurance is 100, Ifixit sells just the glass for 80. If its working I don't see the point.

I replaced my back glass piece with this: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PFMYKU/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00]Amazon.com: Metal Aluminum Silver Color ~ Full Back Battery Cover Case Housing for Apple Iphone 4 G 4G GSM AT&T with Frame ~ Repair Parts Replacement: Cell Phones & Accessories[/ame]

$10 shipped and looks really nice, and it comes with the tools to take out the little screws on the bottom. Really easy to do!

I don't know what I am more amazed about:
The fact that it still works, or that you seen it fly out in your mirror. :iconbeer:

I was just looking on eBay actually and oem replacements with the tool are cheap :) and I watched the DIY video. Looks like it will take all of 1 minute to do.
