Awww, sorry to hear Danielle! Engine parts can be tricky because of the heat situation; however, several members have used tester paint on the yamaha brand across the cover and it seems to have held well. Perhaps try using a small brush and just lining the crack. You aren't going to get the same finish unless you have it done right. Also... it happens to the best of us. Goes with the old saying, if a bike doesn't have any signs of wear, you aren't riding it enough. I will do some research with my paint buddies and see what they say.Crankcase cover. Engine case cover... Not sure what the correct term is..
Anyway.....I pulled an idiotic move the other day and nearly dropped my bike in the garage. Lucky for me some equipment was in the way to catch it, at the expense of my left engine case. Can't complain though. It could've been a LOT worse.
It's a small scratch and it's not deep at all, but the powder coating came off so now you can see the silver underneath. It's about an inch long and maybe an 1/8 inch wide? (Sorry, I don't have a picture right now)
I've read about using a Sharpie as a quick fix and gave that a try but it turns a dark black/brownish color once it dries. The case is still in great condition so I don't need to replace the whole thing and the scratch is not large enough to need completely sanded and repainted.
Is there any touch up I can do to make it look less visible? Maybe sanding down that one small area so I don't have to do the whole thing? I might just stick with the Sharpie if any suggestions get too pricey.
NOBODY is going to notice it, but you. That's the kickerI should have mentioned that the scratch is angled towards the bottom, so if someone was standing up and looking at the bike, you can barely see it (with the help of the Sharpie). It's only really visible when you crouch down and look at it at eye level. My friends think I'm overreacting, but I've only had the damn thing for a little over a month.
Like I said, I really lucked out...

That's awesome, it's a great feeling to actually own something. Loans suck = (MNGreg, that Rizoma guard is exactly what I'm looking for!
And yes, it will cover it perfectly. Much appreciated.
And Alex6, thanks for the "helpful" advice...
I scraped up enough cash to pay for the bike upfront so I wouldn't need full coverage insurance, so crucify me for being paranoid. I also just installed
some OES Frame Sliders for that same reason.
Yeah, imagine having an FZ1 that is paid off.... (It's nice)That's awesome, it's a great feeling to actually own something. Loans suck = (
Hmmm, I can only imagine that.. HOwever I am willing to see what it is like. You can send me your bike and I will try riding it without having to pay anything for it!Yeah, imagine having an FZ1 that is paid off.... (It's nice)

That's well stripped! That's a whole different monster than just a scratch! Please send pics of the finished result and then again after a few thousand miles. That'll be some good info!
That is a solid ****ing effort... I did the same thing and I just purchased a replacement cover on eBay for $30.
