Did you get the kick stand too?I think I used a peice of scrap 2x4 to prop the tank out of the way ~ we got ours from Soupys
I wrapped the tow rope around the rear set in front of the pillion pegs after looping it through the handlebars. I love that electric lift in the garage! In this pic, http://www.600cc.org/forum/attachments/f89/17991d1256488265-roaring-toyz-lowering-link-install-8.jpg what is the rear point you're using to secure the straps?
Yeah that thing is great. Awesome set-up. :thumbup:I wrapped the tow rope around the rear set in front of the pillion pegs after looping it through the handlebars. I love that electric lift in the garage!
Passenger foot peg (rest)Noob q, what is a pillion peg?
Yes.I read the whole thread and there is no mention on how to install this without a hoist, Is it even possible to do it by using a rear stand or any other method?
from what i've gathered on this thread the link dropped the back end 1.75" and the front end was lowered 0.75" since 1.75" was too much which would have matched what the back end was lowered to. what I don't understand is wouldn't you want the front end to AT LEAST be lowered as much as the rear per what I've read from many different threads/articles? I'd like to lower my back end 1" and front end 1.25" but after reading this thread I'm having second thoughts on whether that makes sense.
I just finished reading through some other threads about other members lowering the front end up to 2" and not even touching the back end. which is quite different from what this thread seems to be talking about. I haven't lowered a bike before so I'm trying to piece together info as I come across it.
any clarification on this would be appreciated. Thank you.
Where did you get the shorter rear shock spring? If you intend to ride your lowered FZ6R at 9/10ths on the road or the track, lowering it will have a negative effect. You can make compensations for some of them, but it will cost you additional time and money. The bike will still not be as good as it was stock if you really really want to go fast fast fast.
For all other riding, lowering the bike within reasonable amounts will be fine. Actually, it will be better than fine now that the person riding it can put their feet firmly on the ground when they stop.
I have been riding for 27 yrs and taught motorcycle courses from 1989-2004. I have ridden my wife's lowered 2009 FZ6R (Soupys lowering link + shorter rear shock spring, pulled front forks up in triple clamps) several times and it's just fine. Same with the 2007 GS500F I lowered. I never tried to find the limits on either of them, but I went as fast as I was comfortable and neither one of them ever did anything different than a stock bike other than touch down the chin fairing going over the curb between our driveway and the road.
