paddock stand issues

Hi guys, Can anyone recommend where along the swing arm to put paddock stand. I'm usually on my own and get nervous putting it on the open side of the axle nut. When I put it on the inside it tends to slide and tyre ends up touching the ground again - (causing me to turn into Basil Fawlty)

The stand is an "oxford" brand and has right angle rubber ends, where the stand rests on the swing arm. Would be grateful for any hints

IIRC, mine was so far forward, that it was near the bend of the swingarm. Not that its right, but I wouldn't put it behind the axle.

I had a cheap harbor freight stand at the time, and it slid as well, making it not straight. one piece of advice, make sure your front wheel is straight. it helped me in getting the rear wheel up easier and straighter.
