Wow. A wife that believes everything her husband tells her. Eventually her transmission will tell her something too.

In this thread however, looking at the context (i.e. the quote embedded in the comment) it looked a lot more like a dig at someone's opinion using a poor line of logic and not just a 'joke'.
I dunno, maybe my frustration has overridden my sense of humor. I've been re-calibrating my brain today and will be 'normal'

Again, that last line was a joke, as in paraphrasing Lord Vader from Episode IV.
Back on topic though, I will say this: Some bikes like the BMW S1000RR have built in quick shifters and are designed to be upshifted without the clutch. The FZ6R does not have one, and was not designed to do that. Can you? Of course. Can I dip my balls in kerosene and set them on fire? Of course. I don't do either on a regular basis.
At least a quickshifter kills power for a few milliseconds and takes some pressure off the shifting forks and dogs. And reduces the shock all along the power train. I don't see any point to it unless you're trying to win a race.
On a regular basis...so what your saying is that you have dipped your balls in kerosene and set them on fire before though? Interesting.... 0.o

I used those on racecar. They are proximity switch. It cut the ignition for few millisecond. It work good if you know how to use it. You need to be firm and quick... the problem I have seen is if the driver get tired or lazy on the shifter, the cut off is not long enough and end up destroying the dog ring (most cut off can be calibrated manually...) But if it cut the engine for too long, it's slow. And more than likely it will work on upshift only on a bike... having one of those working on downshift require a lot more hardware (blipper)
IMSA light cars have a liter bike engine. They have one of those system that shift without lift. Work good... it does work on downshift too. There's a little cylinder mounted near the throttle linkage that use vacuum to blip the throttle on downshift. Those cars never use any clutch except for taking off. I'll take pics next time I go work to the speed shop in Miami... they have 2 over there.
As for shifting without clutch... I use the clutch all the time on downshift. Most of the time in the lower gear (bigger split) but rarely on the top gear. But I use it sometime... all depend of my mood.
Back when I was in college (aka broke) My friend blew up the clutch on my Civic. It wasn't slipping, but I couldn't put it in gears using the clutch. So I had to put it in first gear and start it. (moving forward in first gear) Then I was shifting/downshifting without clutch... That's how I learn how to sync the gears. I had to drive my car like that for about 1 month! Upshift are quite easy when you get the hang of it. Downshift take a bit more skill and practice. Today, I can drive my cage all day long without the clutch (except taking off...) if I want to.
Bike gearbox are dog ring type. They can shift without clutch all day long if you are gentle and do it properly. Nothing wrong either way... like many other things... all personal preference!

I had to do the same thing for about a while after I finished HS Marthy. I rolled my ankle REALLY bad. My shin and calf turned purple and I couldn't put any weight on it. My car worked fine, my left leg didn't. I used a cane for taking off out of a stop, but speed shifted (both up and down) for everything else. I was glad that I had practiced speed shifting the car before that for those "just in case" situations. Once my leg got better I used the clutch again.
