New rider from Central New York!

I will be plunking down the $$$$ on a beautiful 2009 fz6r tonight! While I have ridden off-road since I was 12, I've never had a street bike. I will be taking the motorcycle safety course this weekend and hopefully picking up the bike early next week!

I got my helmet (scorpion), jacket (olympia) and gloves from a local bike shop. I'll also have to replace the back tire. From what I see here in message boards people are as "passionate" about tires as they are about politics and religion ;-) If I buy the tire from this shop (which I DO like) they charge $40 for mounting and balancing. How does this compare to other locations? Oh, this price is for bringing the bike in not just the tire...

Yup, it's going to be a long, slow week!

That's a reasonable price on the mounting. I did mine a few weeks back. Supplied the tires perrelli rosso 2s. $52 each
Congrats on the bike u will love it. It does everything well!

40 seems pretty reasonable for that, considering you're bringing the entire bike to the shop. The shop I use charges me 20 per tire, but I only bring him the rim and don't get them balanced.

Welcome from the Binghamton area, Southern Tier.
Glad to see you are using the local bike shop. It's guys like us that keep them around for when we really need them.
