Well, it's been a while... and due to a surgery and other things, I haven't been able to enjoy my bike for a while... well, I finally broke down and installed some mods... here's what I got..

Homemade FE kit...

I used a template from someone on here... with my own additions. ;)

I also got new mirrors... with LED turn signals in them... and while I was at it... I "smoked" my windscreen using some flat black spray paint... yeah, it's not a real smoke... but it's the poor man's smoked windscreen. ;)

I haven't ridden it yet... because it was dark and cold when I finished... and I haven't hooked up the turn signals yet because I don't know if I'm going to keep the mirrors... they are the $20 set you can find on ebay... I think they're like the trojans, but I'm not sure. Anyways... first impressions... I like the way they look on the bike, but I'm REALLY concerned it will be a bad situation with functionality.
 
Looks great! You started your first mods, and if you are like me, they won't be your last!!!!
 
Yeah, I'd still like to get flush mount protons... but other than that, I think I'm done... this is all I've wanted to do since I got the bike. Perhaps in a few years, I'll get a TB exhaust... but, by then I may be ready to move on...
 
Looks good! If you want some cheaper flushmounts the ones on my bike (Previous owner put them on) are the universal ones form Motorcycle-Superstore.com The last owner tinted them and they look really good on the bike. They are only 25$!
 
what Mirrors did you get. I want integrated turns too but Im not sure what to get. people say trojans are junk. Those look nice on the bike.

How bad is the new visability?

Those intergrated ones he got are just trojans with signals in them. I have the Trojans and they seem very sturdy to me
 
I really like your mirrors. I like the signals... you should hook them up! Here's my latest mod... :canada:

I should probably stay 10,000 miles away from this, but i just can't help myself. Dart...please forgive me.

Did you se the thread that Mike had put up? it was about a kid who put "NOS in a bottle" in his gas.... generated hundreds of pages of "WTF" "Are you serious?" and so on, it was the biggest epic fail if this kid really did do it, and an epic prank if he just said he did...

I haven't seen it Dart, but i may have to look that up. Epic fails are hard to miss and often too interesting to juts let them pass on by...LOL

Oh dang, i was so caught up in seeing the NOS i forgot to tell Renegade thoughts.

Renegade! - Good stuff Broski! I'm going to do the same to my windscreen - poor man mods are ok. :thumbup: I like the FE as well, i'm just starting to mod my bike and it's already fun!
 
LOL... I remember that "epic" NOS thread...

Thanks for the compliments.... I think it looks great. What's even better is I'm out of pocket... $.97. LOL... for a can of flat black paint from Home Depot...

The mirrors were generic mirrors I got off eBay (actually, my bro-in-law got it for me for Christmas)... they were $20 I think.

I have not had a chance to ride it as I finished it later last night... and today I worked late... I'd like to test them out when I have plenty of sunshine. ;)

iSpoolin - I'll have to check out those flush mounts... I really like the protons and the strobe flash they do... I kinda want a 3-wire signal for the flushmounts so that they will be on as running lights... but I don't know if there are any out there... I'm not sure what I'm going to do for now, but I think I'll take off the turn signals and let there be a hole... until I figure something out.

By the way... the hex-head screw in the plastic cover by the tank is a PITA to get installed again... it took me like 10 minutes each screw to just get it to start threading...

That's what I like to hear.

Trojan Style Mirrors = $0 (brother-in-law's credit card)
Smoked Windscreen = $0.97
Threading hex-head screws = PITA

Modding your bike = priceless
 
So, I was able to take the bike for a ride... the Trojan mirrors work OK... not as good as stock, but not completely useless. They vibrate a little (without taking the rubber piece off the stockers)... and unless you really crank down the screw for adjusting them, they like to move on you... I always head-check anyways... so I'm not too worried. I hooked up the turn signals, and they make them flash faster ('cause of the LED), however it's not too bad.. I took off the stock turn signals and left the hole there... I'll fill it eventually (probably with flushies... for side-view turn signals)... but for now it works... I'm a happy rider. :D

After looking at the blacked out windscreen I decided to do mine. Will post when done. Also you can keep the crap from slinging up under you if you install a rear hugger fender. I have the yellow one too and the black screen is sick!

Make sure you apply light coats... and I think flat black works best. (I ONLY had flat black, but I would imagine the gloss would not stick as well) I really like mine...
