Light pods

Okay mod whores, who has a good idea how to mount these pods in the air scoops? They're semi flexible and about 2.5" long. I don't think double sided tape will hold them since its pretty narrow (maybe 1/4"). They're getting tied into my turn signals since my flushies aren't very visible from the front.

Shoe Goo. Dries clear and flexible. Will never come off until you want to peel it off. That how I have mine mounted. Mine aren't flexible though. But it'll work brilliantly.

Thanks Jon, where do you get shoe goo? I've never heard of it.
 
Craft stores, Walmart, hobby shops. Online all over the place. ( Amainhobbies.com )It's a clear flexible glue. I was first exposed to it racing RC cars. We would use it to mount electronics on flat carbon fiber chassis plates. Held firm but easy to pull off when needed.

Awesome, thanks again Jon. Might hook them up tonight to test them out and glue them tomorrow since weather will be crappy and I won't be riding.

Where did u get the strips,I was worried about the flush mounts too

Got them from here White 9 LED Strip Motorcycle Car Boat Home Ultra Bright Pod Light 12V Waterproof | eBay If you order them make sure to change your quantity since the price is only for one. The shop that inspected my bike wouldn't pass it without modifying the flushies to point out more or add something for forward visibility. I got ZX6R integrated mirrors, but didn't like them as much as my carbon fiber ZX6R mirrors. So after inspection since my bike was tore apart for the retrofit I changed my mirrors. I originally wanted to do the lights and for some reason I went with the mirrors. :facepalm:

Thanks, I have crazy glue and gorilla glue, but don't wanna do damage removing them if I ever need to.
 
You would be surprised at the strength of that mounting tape. Not sure if they use it on those strips, but the 3M outdoor mounting tape is rated to hold 5 lbs. It is really good stuff. Since those LEDs are so light, I am sure that it would be fine.

Thanks, my oldest step-daughter is in school for graphic design and I think she has some mounting tape. May give it a whirl. I'll post pics in this thread when I get them mounted up. Was just searching some old threads and can't wait to get them in there. Should be nice and bright!

Mine didn't come with any mounting tape on them. They are super light though. I just thought since it was so narrow that it wouldn't get a tight seal on the scoop.

Very true, don't want a big roll because I don't really see any other projects needing it right now. I may be done mods for a while. Nah, who the hell am I kidding. There's still plenty of modding to do. :D
