I was looking on Craigslist last night in my area of New Orleans and found a guy who has a 2011 FZ6R Raven. Article said he paid $7000 brand new. Here is the kicker it only has 415 miles on it , but he went down on the right side and it doesnt look to good. 2011 YAMAHA FZ6R

What do you all think, $3800 is that a fair price?

look at it this way. do you want to pay full price at dealer? or oyu get this buy the RH farings and your in pretty good shape...

The fairing doesn't look like a big deal, even the powder coating on the engine scraped away... however, the big dent in the gas tank would concern me... that's not a sliding dent -- sucker's been dropped more than once... And, between that and the three fairing/cowling replacement, not a cheap repair.

the tank is dented and the engine is scared lol
imo its ah horrible deal lol i only payed 200$ more for my bike!!!

If you want to make it a "naked bike" project its a good deal. You can sell the parts that are still good and that should be close to pay for the parts you need. But if you want to put it back to its original... might be a bit expensive.

buy it and go naked imo
replace the engine parts that are scared and repair that nasty tank dent maybe total it would cost you 5k max!

I dont know... I dont think its really that bad. Sounds like a good deal actually, even if you want it stock.
From what I could see:
Gas tank $? functional and leak free for now?
All other internals good and body "straight"?
Right Cowling $289 @ Stadiumyamaha last I checked
RH Engine cover probably around $90 (based off my experience of LH Crankcase cover from my accident.
RH Blinker - Maybe some on here that have Flushies would sell cheap.
Bar end/Mirror... Maybe same as the Blinker.

Dont know if I missed anything there, as my pictures at work are pretty small.

I would hate to say... NAY..
Considering the cost of the cowling, engine cover, other parts totalling probably... $600, then considering price of cowling I bet the gas tank is atleast $400-500??. So you are looking at probably atleast 1200 after shipping and taxes. Then how much is your time worth? ALL fixed up, yeah no problem for $4500, but I dont think you would turn much profit unless you could get some of the parts cheaper from other members... Maybe get color-rite and do your own good paint job fixing the cowling (save you probably $250 after paint cost)..

Its possible, but I think you could be pretty tight on the deal.

I would think the bike may still be a good investment to buy, just turning around for a profit might be hard. If you have the money to spare without pinching reserves or being tight, it could be an interesting thing to try and do though.

New MCN issue showing 2012 values for low mileage, good cosmetic condition, good functioning bikes:

2011 FZ6R = $6550
2010 = $6570 (umm typo in issue and should be reversed w/ 2011?)
2009 = $5370

Why the hell is the 2009 worth over a grand less than the other years?! It's the same freaking bike...

But to respond to the OP, you never know how much hidden damage there is to this bike. You're totalling up the cosmetic pieces, but what about other things that could be wrong with it? Bent forks, or cracked triple tree, etc. I'd stay well away from this. There's too much risk of getting burned with a very small window for any profit.

You can probably find a turn signal on here for free, but chances are the fairing is crack and will need to be replaced, tank is dented and I'd want to replace that, and who knows how much work is needed on the engine part there. You're probably looking at $1500 -$2000 to get it back to new.

Me personally I wouldn't touch anthing used especially one that has been dropped like that.

It seems like a hell of a deal, as long as it is only cosmetic damage. But I don't know why people are so afraid of used bikes with a little "character". Hell there is only 415 miles on it it is practically brand new, so what if it has a few scratches and a dent in the tank. This is just another example of someone who has probably never owned a bike before, droped it then got scared of it. It's a Yamaha he could of had it at redline from mile 0 and I would still be a steal. Some bondo and some vinyl graphics and your back to a $7000 bike!

A lot depends on how much time and effort you're willing to put into the bike to get it looking the way you want again. If I'm going to drop thousands of dollars on something I want to enjoy it right then and there. The last thing I want to do is wait a month without riding while everything is getting repaired. But that's just me

Being a brand new bike I think it would be overkill to strip it and sell it for parts. It's not damaged to the point he would need to do that. Hell there might even be room to make money if you were to buy it for a good price and fix it and resell it. Again, it all depends on what you want to do with it.
