I am tired of Contacts..... Has anyone here gotten Lasik done???

My wife just had it done a few months ago and could not see without her contacts or glasses (blind as a bat), but now no glasses and sees great. She had some ups and downs because while fully healing she had days when she couldn't see well, but now is at 100%. She would highly recommend it! I only have glasses for reading and am close to 20/20 so I don't really have to wear glasses and rarely do unless I'm doing homework for long periods of time.
I had it done about 6 years ago. I'm 43 now and it's still holding up. Just passed the eye exams for my motorcycle license last month, so it's at least 20/40 and I'm confident better as that line was cake. I would highly recommend it to anyone that can swing it.
ETA: FWIW, my vision was 20/200 and 20/240 before the surgery.

I had mine done in 2007 and I can still see great. Probably not 20/20 anymore, but I was only 20, and my eyes are still changing. I can still see better than others with glasses, and can easily pass the test for a license. I'm not sure what my eyesight was exactly before, but my contacts said -.375 & -.350 for prescription.
I'm sure they've made alot of changes to how it's done now, but it really wasn't a big deal then. By the time I say down in the first chair (after taking numbing crap), I was walking out the door in probably 10-15 minutes.

My eyes couldnt handle the contacts anymore (irritation) and I couldnt stand glasses.. One little spec in vision would give me a headache. I went for ILASIK (Intralase wave)? Lasik about 5-6 years ago. I was nervious as heck but they gave me a good amount of valium to calm me down. Was in and out within about 30 minutes, and they kept me there for about 1 hr after the procedure checking on me about every 15 minutes. Eyes were watering like crazy. They gave me a higher does of valium to take once I got home, took it and slept for several hours with protective goggles over my eyes while I slept and then protective glasses while awake. I could remove the daytime ones that night. The night time ones I wore for I think it was two weeks so I wouldnt rub my eyes in sleep. But later that day I could see better. It kept getting better and better for the next week or two. I think they say it can take up to 6 months for eyes to fully heal and max results. On my eye exam the following week, I tested out at 20/40, 2 weeks later I was at 20/15 and have stayed there since!
It really wasnt as bad as I was scared of. Though I have no regrets about getting it done! Although my provider will do a free enhancement if needed down the road.
REALLY do your research though for provider.. Dont just go to a "chop shop" place that advertises they do xxxx per year and this much cost.. Research the Dr that will actually do the procedure. You want to know everything about the dr that will be touching your eyes....
Before the procedure, my glasses were -7 & -8.25, again, now I am still 20/15 several years later. Dr said very good candidate since I was like 29/30 and eyes had been stable for several years not changing anymore.

If you need financing, look into "care Credit". Many providers and Vets take this so it is usefull for other things also. Over like $200 you get 6 months no interest also. So you could get it done pay by the care credit and get no interest while waiting to get reimbursed from your FSA account (if you have one) to then pay off the card.
Cost us almost $5K. We used part of our tax return. Was worth every penny. We had friends and family use the same place so my wife wouldn't go elsewhere. Not something you wanna bargain shop for.
Mine was billed around $4800, but insurance took care of about $180", and family discount covered the rest.
And now that I see your prescriptions, mine must have been 3.75 &3.50 (probably couldn't read them). I just no I couldn't see the "E" on the charts.
I seen starbursts for about a week or two, during the heeling process, and then I was all good.

Same problem I had with contacts eventually. I wore them from 93-2005? then they just began bugging me too much for some reason.
I think I paid $3200 total for my surgery.. Keep in mind what state everyone is in though.. Like here in MN it is probably cheaper it sounds like than those who had it in CA, etc..

Wife complained of the starbursts too and was soooooo upset, she said we wasted $5000 for this? Now she is happy as hell!

Anthony, Have you tried using Clear Care contact solution? I have seasonal allergies so I know your fustration with eye irritation. I use acuvue oaysis lenses, clear care solution, and for drops I use Zaditor 15 minutes before I put in my lenses and when I take them out. Maybe that will help until you get lasik.

I had it done about 5 years ago and I paid $4400 to have it done. I got mine with the "lifetime warranty" so if my eyes deteriorate I can have them fixed for free.
But if I had to pay $4400 to fix them again.... I would do it in a heartbeat. Totally worth it. Been 20/20 ever since.

Just had it done back in March, best $3800 (would be $4400 but insurance covered some) I ever spent. I'm seeing 20/20 now, and my eyes don't dry out (especially when the visor is cracked). Plus with the cost of contacts and solution, I was looking at about 30 years to break even, so as long as live a healthy life, it'll pay for itself in the end, but honestly the convenience factor is worth it. I'd say if you're a good candidate, go for it; my doc gave me a 0.1% chance that something would go wrong, but the procedures and tech these days are so advanced that it's pretty hard to screw up

I got mine done almost 10 years ago. Before surgery I was so blind I couldn't read a book at arm's length. Now I have perfect vision. I recommend it to anyone.
Had mine done about 8 years ago. My eyes were horrible. 4 weeks after lasik my eyes were 20/10. They've slowly gotten a little worse over the years. About 20/60 now. Another year or so I'll get it corrected. I paid around $6k initially, will cost me about $2k for the correction.
I got my lasik done about 15 years ago... It was only $1500 (both eyes) back then and the best money I ever spent. I was soooo tired of my contacts and quite thankful for the procedure.
Like many, I had the starbursts at night for about a month or two but then everything settled in.
I was 20/10 right after the surgery and settled into 20/20. After 15 years later I'm still quite good at 20/30.
No regrets, here...

Where did you go? Was it the place I keep hearing on radio statoins in our area? I have been thinking about this for a while now, but my eyes are not all that bad to begin with.. just hate wearing contacts and glasses so been using the last of my contact supplies before I make my decision.
