How do you summerize your cage?

As spring approaches, I'm curious if anyone has a routine for the cage. I know last year I went 3 months without driving my car and the battery was dead, the engine ran a little rough until the full tank of gas I left in it burned out, and it had low pressure in three tires and one tire had come off the bead. I'm definitely thinking this year I'm gonna at least put some Sta-Bil in the car.

I had my battery in my z71 die and needed a new one last late summer. Heat will kill a battery no doubt. Even at 3000 mikes a year on it didn't help. So after a new battery I decided I'd drive it at least once a week in place of the wife's car i.e. errands and going out with friends.

Thats what I do as well. I try to drive my backup car atleast 1x per week so has gets used before going bad. Plus wash and wax.

3000 miles a year?
I am soo sooooooo envious. Before we bought our house I was putting on 43000 miles a year. Now I am down to about 26000 per year. Couldnt find everything wanted for a nice price closer, and buying a house didnt want to settle for something.

I bought my truck used on 8/15/09 with 19K miles on it. As of now, 2 1/2 years later, I just hit 30K. And now that I don't commute with it at all (I work two weeks on, two weeks off in the Alaskan oilfields) I imagine I will use it even less.

why not put a battery tender on it if you won't drive it at least every couple weeks

Nope; I work in an office. Besides, if you end up covered in oil, something went very, very wrong. If so much as a cup of any type of fluid other than clean water hits the ground, it gets reported and is considered a spill that gets cleaned up. The environuts have done their job well.

That's what I started doing when I kept coming home to a dead battery. Even though I have a DieHard platinum battery, two weeks of below zero temps plus an auto start that requires a small amount of current equals a dead battery.

Prudhoe, Endicott? My dad worked most of my life up at Flow 2 in Prudhoe. He retired about 3 years ago though.
