There are metal brackets on either side of your bike that your fairings mount onto. Closest to your legs while seated. Take them off, put the (common/ground) on the frame, the bracket over the top, wrench them down. Our bikes have a solid steel frame but other bikes have aluminum alloy frames, which isn't much better. The best bet is to run it to the battery or connect it in with the wiring harness (solder & heat wrap). So i couldn't stand stock halogen any longer and it won't be after the summer until i can send Rabbitman my headlight to be retrofitted, i decided to install DDM tuning 35w H4 Hi/Lo Hids. It took way longer than expected. I read alot about the install and figured i've taken the side fairings off so how hard could it be, wrong. You basically have to strip the whole bike down to the frame to run the wires, had to tap the negative into the horn spade connector in order for it to work. and to top it off i started at 6 pm last night and have to be on base at 6 am, bike was still torn apart by 2 am. Lesson learned. For those that want to do this mod, Have some time and patience and don't do it the night before work if this is your only means of transportation. For those that have done this install with this kit, where did you tap the negative ground wire to? i tried bolting it onto something with bare metal but no luck, not even the ground for the protons, only the negative for the horn works for me, any negative drawbacks to this? no pun intended.
I thought you knew, I have had stickers for a while now...Chad if you get some stickers made up I'd love to rock them on my 6r or helmet.

Aluminum is a very good conductor. Most all new cars engines are aluminum and they all ground to the block. Steel rusts, and looses conductivity while aluminum does not. Explain to me why steel would be better frame than aluminum in terms of chassis ground... Bad for them, good for us in terms of grounding.
As far as the doing it yourself vs. having Chad do it. I'm sure I could build a rocket ship given lots of time and materials; however, I had Chad do mine because he has done many and there are a lot of things you need to take into consideration when doing a retrofit. I do a lot of electronic jobs in my line of work and when it came to this I let the guy who has done them before, experienced all of the issues that could arise do it for me. Goodluck in your choice and anyone else looking to have this done/do it themselves.
This is very true. Bad info on my part. I've had a lot of buddies have issues with their aluminum frames and grounding. In truth, steel is a very poor electrical conductor where as silver, copper, gold, and aluminum are far better in that order pretty much, but I have yet to have any issues with mine and I don't think they are going to start making frames out of any of those other metals. Technically, the best scenario would be to wire it directly into the harness... because even the aluminum frames are an aluminum alloy and aren't much better in terms of conductivity compared to straight aluminum. I will end up redoing mine in the long run.Aluminum is a very good conductor. Most all new cars engines are aluminum and they all ground to the block. Meetup? We are too close to deal with mailing. No never knew, how does one get some stickers?
I got vacation coming up, but maybe after we can meet up.Meetup? We are too close to deal with mailing.
Good job. That can be a difficult endeavor."we are the champion my friend.... we'll keep on fighting til the end"
