has anyone ever been to an actual harbor freight store, as opposed to ordering online? i have 3 about 30 minutes away, and i was going to see if they had stands on hand. i dont know if they have everything that you can order, at their retail stores as well.

My local store had swingarm stands in stock, but not on display. I got one but ended up returning it and buying the GPI Industries stand set instead.

I'd give them a call first before making the drive. The HF stands work, but the protective coating on the contact lift points wears through pretty quickly. I bought some Pit Posse stands for the front and rear and I really like them.

Our household harbor freight rules:
1) I am not allowed to go into this store without the wifey present
2) When I go into this store I must be looking for something in specific
3) After I find the specific item I MUST leave
4) If I see other items while preparing to leave and would like to purchase them I must get approval first..

Seriously this is my favorite store. The quality is not the best, but its CHEAP! Think of a kid going into toys-r-us for the first time, yeah, its that good!!!

The only tools I own that did not come from there is a few small hand tools that I wanted the lifetime warranty on so I got craftsman..

HF has some of the best deals, I got an pnumatic cutoff wheel for $2.99.. Who can beat that price?? I have had it for 9 months now, and gone though dozens of discs, I mean I abuse the heck out of this tool and it just wont give up haha!!

I have the HF stand and the above posters are correct.. The paint chips off the frame of the stand, and the rubber contact points peal off, but I just covered mine in duct tape and called it good. I got a rear stand and front adapters for less than $50 IIRC, and again you cant beat that price..

I agree you can't beat their prices and unless you are using these tools on a daily basis they are more than adaquate. I bought the stands as well and will be storing my bike on them soon. I seem to remember in some earlier post that someone could not get the front stand with adapter to work - have you had yours up on the front yet? Were there any problems with it?

had it up on the front a few times.. its NOT easy to do by yourself though, I had to have help getting it up (haha yeah laugh if you want).. I had to have the wifey stabilize the bike while I lifted it, and it took all the strength i had to get the front end up on the stand..

remember most of the weight of the bike is up front so its ALOT to lift!

I am probably just a wuss though :(

i see no problem, I would trust them. I know I can weld better than the guys over in their chineese factory but it looks and seems sturdy in my eyes as an armature fabricator..

its a simple design that has good weight distribution...

Wow, that sounds kinda familiar. :p I could spend thousands in that store on $3.99 items. "But it's not even $5, honey...."

I WISH we had one!

And a Northern Tools, Bass Pro Shop, Cabellas, Parts Unlimited, and a PF Chang restaurant!

I am sooooo deprived. I have to suffer with Home Depot, Sears and Lowes and none of them make decent Chinese food.

lets see, within 42 miles: 3 harbor freights, a bass pro, cabelas, gander mountain, 6 good casinos. and most of these things are within 10 miles from each other, im just out there.

anyways, i picked up two stands and front fork adapters today. extra bonus: two stands were tied together, for shipping, and only had one tag. $54 got me two stands and front forks. i think i did good. :D

I bought the rear stand from them over the Summer - good enough for the 4/5 times I have used it.

A quick tip on helping "get it up" (the bike that is). Place a regular brick under the kickstand to help level the bike before trying to hoist the rear up. Makes it sooo much easier when doing it alone.

We have one near us. they dont carry the one pc one in store.......They said its a HF "rule" I check out a store 3 hrs away and they said the same thing. I do see SOME carry the aluminum one that you put together and I got that. I installed my spools in a location that is perfect and does lift it up perfect. I will have to post a pic.

I didnt want to pay shipping for the one pc one and my brother ordered one and it was all scratched up and didnt ship well.

I will post a pic and i think I found the best spot to mount the spools without interfering with adjustment or anything like that either. THis one is in a box that lays flat so you may have to look for it.

Tractor:D

Like cbxdel, many of my tools are from HF. My in-laws got me a $200 gift certificate for HF for my B-day one year...that was the best.! Their pneumatic tools are great for the money...especially the ones you don't use often. I bought an air hammer for $9. It came with 7 or 8 bits. I've had it for over 10 years now and have used the crap out of it, and it still works great. I have the MC stand with front adapters. Yeah, the rubber tore after the fifth time I used it, but for $50, I'm not complaining. Why spend $200+ for the same thing?! Harbor Freight is the best.
