Hand signals

Aside from the friendly wave we give each other, what sort of hand signals are used by riders passing other riders?

Today I was riding along, and a guy passed me patting the top of his helmet. I thought that was odd, and figured a cop was up ahead or something. Sure enough a couple miles down the rode is a bike in the ditch, and three state patrol vehicles. I don't know if the patting the helmet actually meant anything, but it got me to look ahead for any trouble.

Most important, tap on top of helmet = police in the area.

And the tap on the helmet technically is "hazard ahead" for a passing motorcycle. More often it's referring to a speed trap, but it can also be an actual hazard.
