Gentle Reminder, ATGATT (NSFW, sorta.. not bad though)

I don't think you guys are getting my message.

I'm not against ATGATT. I do wear gear and I want to buy more gear, but I'm gonna ride with what I have and not wait until I have "EVERYTHING in the book".

I'm against what I call PATGATTATT. Preaching ATGATT All the time.

Like FZWhite said, You say once, maybe twice. If they don't wanna listen. Leave them alone to learn with their own mistakes.

9 more days and my bike will be in the clear for riding.... yet i will be stuck waiting another possible week before i ride..... i refuse to ride before i get my riding pants and icon stryker mil spec vest..... my riding boots will have to wait another two weeks before i can afford those but till then i have a pair of boots i can wear....ATGATT or i wont ride....end of story.

That's what I don't get it. You should bought the gear before the bike. You paying insurance and registration and all the stuff but you not riding.

I bought my bike I had a helmet and gloves. Didn't have a jacket. Because I'm a big guy took me a while to find a jacket that would fit. Well I rode with a regular leather jacket I have because I couldnt stand paying bike payments and insurance for a motorcycle sitting on my driveway.

yeah but he had protective gear on under it which I wear. Shin/knee guards designed for road riding.
If you actually watch it and read the descriptions instead of looking for flaws that arent there...youd see that :D

I do agree with the ATGATT, I just don't preach it. ;)

Maybe you should, it might save a life or someones skin who just didnt have any proper influence and saw other squids riding, and chose to "monkey see, monkey do"

I DO tell people, my brother in law is being riding for over 15 years. Total squid. I gave him a pair of gloves that I bought it and didn't fit and I told him ONCE to buy and wear a jacket. He doesn't want to. I'm not gonna waste my time everyday I seen him and say, You should buy gear. He doesn't want to wear. Not my problem.

6 pages of "I'm right and you're wrong..." :( *insert circle jerk*

People are adults capable of making adult decisions. More often than not, I see ATGATT evangelists "preaching to" or attempting to educate adults that have developed their own views of how they think they should run their life. This is not proactive, but rather reactive to a behavior that they, the preachers, feel is not THE way and should be corrected. IMHO opinion it's a waste of time and energy telling stubborn adults that they should change their behaviour, instead the time would be better spent educating the children before they have the chance to get on the road and develop those habits.

If risk factors keep adding up, the danger is higher.

Therefore, be the best rider you can be, and wear the gear.

Ride to conditions. If you are tired, its dark and cold, its heavy traffic etc, go slower.

I ride with and without gear, when I'm without some gear I automatically am that much more cautious.

I noticed that police tend to pull over the people with less gear on more often as well ?

Depends what you want from riding I guess, if you are happy to putt around slowly with no gear or up to a certain basic skill level, that's up to you. If you want to be a good rider with high skill level, you'll need to wear gear in order to feel more comfortable to improve at a greater rate.

There's been studies on this anyway, if people feel safer, they automatically go that much quicker up to a certain risk level. There's a real topic on this covered in the science journals, mainly to do with cars (I forget the name of the topic right now). Basically, the people automatically move up to a faster comfort level in a better car with better tyres over time, they don't just go "ok, this new speed limit is easy now in this car, I'm happy now", they will always push to the next limit they feel safe at. I'm sure there's a German word for it. ;)
