Pretty much exactly what I was expecting. Nice little bike that could have been a great machine. Shame... another inexpensive bike that will require $2-3K of update to be right. Ah well, its a start. But Mr. Decision taker at Yamaha... what about selling the bike for a little more and put the right hardware on it right at the start... There's a reason why you don't sell a lot of FZ series bike anymore and the FZ8 was a total flop...

Why are Mfg's so anxious to rid machines of throttle cables? I don't like ride by wire, there always seems to be a delay, then way too much throttle response (e.g. G35). The latest MV Agustas are criticized for the same issue. Maybe its just poor engineering and not an inherent issue, but this system seems to have failed again with the FZ-09.

at least its better looking, doesn't have those bug eyes of the street triple. But Im silly, I just think if your going to ride a sport bike it should look like one with fairings and a shield.

I like the front more than the street triple but the seat...really hate it with the dirt bike look and even looking at it, it just seems too high.

Not that I am updating my ride anytime soon, but I just can't help but want the Triumph Tiger 800......and/or perhaps the Ducati Hyperstrada. Have not test rode either, but did sit on the Duc when I bought some accessories the other week!
Tiger 800 seems so right in so many ways......
FZ09 is however a much more economical choice between them!

I kind of agree but at the same time, I love the look of a well designed naked bike. And I love the old school cafe bikes. The thing that I hate are the half naked bikes. Like the FZ1. Sorry to anyone on here with an FZ1, but they're FUGLY!!!! FZ6 was the same way, some of the versions of the FZ6R from other countries are basically the same way. Either a bike should have full fairings, or be fully naked IMO.

Just saying... getting the 1st one! Put a cash down on a black/blue FZ-09. I should get it within 2 weeks or so.
