So I laid my bike down over the summer. I fixed everything needed to make it operation, but left things like the fairing, engine cover, grab handle, etc. They're scraped up pretty good. The plan was to replace everything and make her pretty again over the winter because I thought I would be upgrading this spring. I now plan to wait another year before getting something else, figuring spring of 2015. Should I even bother fixing this stuff right now? My thought is I could very well mess it up again, or it could get stolen, or numerous other things that would render my fix-ups null & void.
Fix it up now, or just wait?

The engine side casing's can be sanded smooth and repainted with high temp engine paint.
Depending on how deep the scratches are, as to whether anyone will ever notice.
I say give it a shot fixing her and maybe you will fall in love all over again

Frank, if I were in your shoes, I'd probably put a little effort into making it look better, but don't change everything out. When it comes time to sell or trade it, that might be a good time to put fresh parts on, ask a higher price.
If you want, we can try to plastidip some stuff. Fills in scratches better than regular paint does, and you can peel it later.
