Feeler: WTS marthy exhaust sytem, jbpro

So I'm trying to see if there's any interest in my marthy system and jb pro. The reason for it being a "feeler" is because I'm currently in the market for a new bike, and would like to return the bike back to stock since the exhaust doesn't add any value to the trade in of the bike. It's going to be a few weeks before I go and get another bike because I'm currently looking for what I want. What I'm looking to do is trade my modified headers for your stock system+cash. I want to sell the modified headers, with no can, for $300 shipped, proper clamp included, or I also have a r6 midpipe, and a jardine shorty can and the proper exhaust hanger for an extra $40 so you can have a side mount system. I will be honest though, the jardine can is in OK shape, it has scratches, small gouges, etc etc, but is fully functional. Also I'd be willing to sell my jb pro, for $150 shipped. I will also have a few extra parts I'll get rid of like a tinted double bubble windscreen and zx6r mirrors. Like stated, this will be a few weeks before any of this happens.

Here's a few pics of what it looks like with the sidemount. I'll try to take some more detailed pics if I can get a break with the weather. Also, the hanger I have on there now is a proper motorcycle exhaust hanger, not that crappy strap that's on there in the pics.

Excited to see which way you go. Does color have anything to do with the choice? I think the Z1000 in black is sweet.

Nah I'm really not picky about color. I like the z1000 a lot, insurance is actually cheaper on it than I'm paying now for my 6r. There's two z1000's I'm looking at, one is a leftover 2010 brand new its pearl white with orange for $7499 and also a 2012 that's black with orange for $8299, the only thing that's holding me back from getting one is finding a taller windscreen for it. I was really set on getting a r6 since I'm a yamaha guy at heart, but after reading reviews about the harshness of the ergos I concur they're pretty aggressive (especially when you're 6'2"260 like me) The gsxr's are so comfortable for a supersport, and they come with more standard stuff, gear indicator, steering stabilizer and no need for flushmounts.

There's two z1000's I'm looking at, one is a leftover 2010 brand new its pearl white with orange for $7499 and also a 2012 that's black with orange for $8299, the only thing that's holding me back from getting one is finding a taller windscreen for it. Not too mention the Gixxer comes with the selector mode switch. Which can be helpful taming the bike down say in the rain, ect. I test drove the gixxer 750 once & sure did like it!

Then again, 7500.00 for a leftover z1000 sounds like a steal considering the FZ6R is now priced at around the same amount MSRP.

When I sat on the Z, my heel kept wanting to sit on the odd pipe set up that the bike has. Then again, I'm a size 14 & taller than you (6"8).


My opinion is that I looked more normal on the gixxer vs the z being so tall, something to consider even at 6"2.

Either way, I like you're options!

you're kidding?!? insurance on the z1000 is cheaper than your 6r? i never would have thought that considering you'd be sitting on 1,000 cc. was that quote based on the 2010 or the 2012? or both?

even though i just got my 6r last november i'm already scouting out my next bike. the z1000 2010-present is one of the two on my list (the other being a 2012 cbr600rr). it's the only naked bike that i like the looks of, i like the dual exhaust setup, and to me that bike just looks mean. throw on those good discounts and it's a compelling choice. but remember, no matter the price you gotta be happy with your choice and not base it on $$$ (well maybe just a little bit on price as long as it falls within the budget).

in regards to the 2010, i read somewhere and i think it was on this forum, that it can be a bad sign if a bike is brand new but several years old and still sitting on a showroom floor. something to do with a bike not running and sitting unused for a long time. maybe someone else can weigh in on this as my memory is mixed on this and i'm no expert on the subject. possibly worth looking into. if you end up choosing the z1000 my vote is for the 2010 model, assuming there is nothing wrong with it having sat around this long. i like the color scheme better and hell, it's close to a grand cheaper when you factor in interest saved on the $800 savings compared to the 2012 one.

Dead serious on the insurance quote, it ended up being around $10 cheaper than on the 6r. $110 a month (in my name) to be exact. And the quote comes out the same for the 2010 and the 2012. I go through progressive currently, I'm 22 with a clean record. Although if I go through my dads policy on state farm, I could get it even cheaper, I got quoted $120 a month for the gsxr 1000 through them, not bad at all. I was concerned though about that as well (in regards to the bike sitting for so long) apparently they got the bike from a dealership that had went out of business, assuming the bike had sat there for some time because they weren't selling bikes fast enough. My only concerns with it were the oil sitting in there for so long, and also the radiator fluid/brake fluid.

I'd assume a complete flush of all those fluids and new filters would alleviate those concerns. a minor cost compared with the savings you'd get on the 2010 model. you might even be able to get the dealership to do all of that for you at no cost just to get that older model off their hands. are you thinking a complete flush might not be enough?

I think it would relieve any of my concerns. I bought my bike in 2012 with 1100 miles on it and it was an 09, and I've never had a single issue with it. The dealership was nice enough to change the oil when I picked it up so she was all set to go.

I pay $165/month for full coverage on my '06 F150, '09 FZ6R, and '12 ST3. Even when I was in my 20's, my insurance wasn't much difference price wise. I guess that's another price you pay to live in the great state of Michigan...

I pay $39/month for full coverage in PA. Full coverage on my Dodge Ram and Chevy Cruze is like $160/month.

In MI there is an MCAA (Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association) fee that everyone must pay. and MI is the ONLY state that does this, ugh! it's something to do with if someone sues you for an obscene amount due to an accident and your vehicle insurance coverage doesn't cover it all then this MCAA kicks in. can't remember what it is for a bike but for my car i think it was $175 for the year, something ridiculous like that. Plus 06330i and I are in the greater Detroit area which adds some $$$ to our bill. oh michigan...

PA is the only state that has Tort option. Sorry hard to explain because it's stupid. Has to do with your ability to sue after an accident.

How much with everything together? and if we met half way? Where is scs Michigan?

My bike is in a shop in fort wayne right now having other work done, so fund are a little limited. But down the road its a possibility.
