Ive read other posts of people saying 70mph is at 6 grand. And I saw some videos of fz6r going 70 dead on at 6k. My bike at 70 is 6.5k. What does everyone elses do at 7k?

Not to thread jack but how high is to high to hold for extended periods of time?(45 min) sometimes I have to go 85+ to keep up with traffic

As long as its broke in youn can cruis at 85 all day long. Dont go 100 for an hour if thats what you mean.

If you got your bike used, check to make sure the gearing was not changed by the previous owner. I changed the sprocket size in the rear to allow for more top end and comfortable cruising speed.

Nah its not used. 500 rpms arnt the end all be all. I was just curious as to what others got cruising at 70mph
I don't remember the owners manual telling me I can't cruise along at 9k.

I thoight the same thing. I thought I was just missing 6th. But in 6th gear im at 6600rpm give or take 50 or so. Im positive. Brand new bike. 60mph was at 5800 its quite odd.
Some of us are using +1 (17T) front sprocket. That will be 70 MPH @ 6K. The speedo is a bit off with the stock ratio. You actually going like 5 mph slower than what the speedo indicate.

I agree with you. I always try to shift one more gear when on the interstates.Meh, I think our bike needs another gear or two anyway
70 MPH at 6.5K is what I was getting in Stock sprocket setup. I think where you are hearing about the lower RPMS is from people who changed gearing. now with the new gearing I am getting 69MPH @ 6k.
they should have just strictly made that last gear for freeway speeds.
my ford ranger in 5th will get you great mileage and keeps the revs low its almost impossible to accelerate will in 5th but that's okay.
regardless of the revs feeling / being a little high our bike is a solid bike nothing is going to happen to it. vie put It thru some rigorous endurance tests lol
