I have had my concealed handgun license since I moved to Texas a few years ago and have always carried. However, while riding I have not found a decent place to carry. My EDC is a Glock 22 in a crossbreed supertuck deluxe IWB holster (BEST hoster!!).

Anyone here carry that might offer up some decent carry options? I've a considered shoulder holster. Thanks for any advice!!

Most people I know of that ride with it, store it in a bag of some sorts tank bag, tail bag, saddle bags...

That crossbreed really should be your best option. How exactly is it not working for you while riding?

I would recco against a shoulder holster.

1) in a shoulder holster, if it is rear facing (horizontal carry) then you are always pointing a loaded weapon in an unsafe direction (at the people behind you.) Also, whether it is a vertical or horizontal shoulder holster, when you draw you at some point will be pointing the weapon in an unsafe direction...at you own body (weak hand arm). Shoulder holsters are generally not recommended, and are considered a compromise. It also is a slower, less effective combat draw.

2) I am assuming you will be wearing gear. In an emergency situation, you will have to unzip your jacket (with your gloves on) in order to access your weapon with a shoulder holster. You could be dead by then.

I would def stick with an IWB holster, hip draw. Your crossbreed is a nice holster (I have the Galco knock-off for my Glock).

So tell me what your specific issue is an maybe I can help you better.

But one thing to consider, the Glock IMO is a little on the thick side, which does effect it's concealability and comfort a tad. I switched to 1911s for carry, and even tho all but Officer's size 1911s are longer than the Glock, it is much thinner, and much more comfortable. I don't even notice the Sig Sauer Ultra 1911 on my hip right now as I type this.

It's in a Milt Sparks Summer Special holster, another fine option. I'd like the retention aspect of the Crossbreed SuperTuck a little more tho for riding.

Not a good idea. 1) Slow to get to it, defeats the purpose of carrying for the most part, and if you have to get off your bike in a hurry or dump it (crazy cager trying to kill you), you are now completely seperated from your weapon.

2) You should never put a Glock in a bag unless it is unloaded. Glock has no external safety, so if anything in the bag finds it's way into the trigger guard, it can actuate the trigger and accidentally discharge. A Glock should ALWAYS be in a holster, period. Even if you are tossing it in a bag, it should be in a holster if loaded.

The problem is my riding position /wind causes my jacket to rise up and reveal my firearm. My typical clothing (button up shirt and slacks) easily conceal the full size...I've been riding without but there are certain areas here in San Antonio that a firearm is a must. Perhaps storing it in a tank bag, but then I have to worry about the zipper and reaching it.

Ankle holster is one of the worst carry options available. If you are ever in a scuffle, your opponent has easier access to your firearm than you do. It's the most difficult holster to draw from. Tons of literature available on it. Just lettin you know.

Your crossbreed is tuckable. It is designed to tuck the shirt over the firearm and into the holster. Are you wearing it that way, or just wearing a short loosely over it, and over the jeans/pants themselves?

If your shirt is tucked in, you should be fine even if the jacket rides up.

I use a Galco standard holster with a Glock 19. It carries high and tight, with very little, if any imprint. When I ride, I'll pull my shirt out, and let it hang out loosely -- it doesn't reveal anything with the jacket over the shirt, even if the jacket rides up.

And I *always* carry when I ride at night... often during the day, depending...

I've tried the in-waistband holsters, and just can't get comfortable riding with one of those...

I believe that was his question... My post was relating to my brother who carries his there when riding because he can draw while mounted. Also, if he ends up getting into a scuffle while mounted where his gun could get taken....I want to make sure I get that on my hero cam so I can submit it as a pilot for a new MadMax movie. =) All kidding aside, I personally don't carry... he swears by it though and I will eventually... especially after what happened to me a couple weeks back.

I'm just pointing out what virtually every tactical trainer on the planet will tell you about ankle carry. Ankle carry is only suitable when you have no other good option. I'd argue there are still much better options on a bike.

I CC my Glock 19 when I ride with a IWB holster at the small of my back. My jacket has a pant loop snap to keep it from riding up when I ride, but I can still access it if needed. It's not a supertuck though, so I worry about it being visible when I'm someplace where I have to take my jacket off.

Consider moving it from the small of your back more towards the hip. SOB carry has one very large disadvantage. If you fall on your back, the large metal lump there can easily break your spine. Riding a motorcycle, if you go down, you will end up on your back. Just a thought, worth considering.

I have to agree with MadMike on all points. I don't CC yet, but when I have gone to the range, I've never felt comfortable with the weapon anywhere other than the hip. Easier to pull, safer barrel directions, and I find being able to see it easily with my peripherals just helps with peace of mind.

I'd say find a way to stick with the hip. It's worth sacrificing a little bit of comfort to try different hip locations. I wouldn't want the chest holster to even be considered. I'm very confident with a gun and I still get nervous having the barrel of a loaded gun facing anywhere near my heart

I daily carry a fullsize 5" Springfield 1911 on my right hip in a crossbreed when I ride and when I am not riding. Works just fine for me, my jacket conceals it and my shirt does when im off the bike.

I've tried carrying my CZ SP-01 a couple times on my bike while going to the range but the Falco lt 34 holester I have for it just makes it impossible to conceal with the size, and very uncomfortable while on the bike. So instead of trying to fit a square into a circle I've been looking for something a little smaller for CC, and since I'm in love with my CZ, it will probably be a CZ P-07
