8000 Mile Service

I'm doing the spark plug change, steel lines front and rear, brake fluid, brake pads, engine oil/filter, cable lubing, and chain slack adjustments. I was referring to the other things, that require formal mechanical education.haha But yeah, those last few paragraphs sum it up quite nicely, I will start calling shops first thing in the morning.

Yes do the plugs.


Air filter element - Replace. Every 24000 mi (37000 km)

you can do it sooner if you wish to do so

It's 8K MILES, not kilometers, I do believe.

Yeah, I would go for the Iridium plugs. They really arent that much more when you look at it.... Check out advanced Auto parts or so. Many times these places will give $ off a certain $ order amount. Last time there I got the plugs and some other stuff I needed anyways, after the discount I received the plugs came to the same price as regular ones. Bikebandit often has very good sales on them too.

They supposedly can last longer, but until you are out of the warranty either the MFR or YES warranty, if you have one, I would change every 8k miles and keep the receipts (scanned or photo copied thanks to these thermal paper receipts now days).

I just changed my plugs last week, went for the OEM copper since they were a lot cheaper than the iridium based on what was locally available to me ($3 for the copper and $13 for the iridium).

I decided to change my air filter as well even though it wasn't due for replacement. It looked really dirty so I decided to swap it.
