What is the Normal Operating Temp on average?

Go to page 21 of this, your Yamaha Manual: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/service/manuals/2009/LIT-11626-22-77_FZ6R_1661.pdf Basically the bike is good from cold (Lo) to 242F is all good. Typically my bike rides between 80-100C. Over 243F you should stop and let it cool. Maybe...

    ADV Bikers

I have done a few 6 hour rides on my 6r. I'm sure if you find a solution to the stock seat, it would make an excellent sport tourer! Might advise against on leaving the comfort of the pavement, but Im sure there is quite a bit of trouble you could still get into!

    Racing?

Thanks Marthy! I need new tires this season anyway. Only the back suspension can be adjusted correct? Probably stiffen it out a bit for track edit: and what do i need for brakes to be sorted out?

    Racing?

Anybody try racing their Fz6r on a track? I am thinking about signing up for a track day or two once the snow melts and would like to know if anyone has tried it before?

    What's In Your Garage?

Good Idea for a thread! "My" (my parents) garage has two bays. One has my fathers truck in it, and the other has my fathers other truck in it... I get the yard :( But on the plus side he is a welder so if need be I can pull out a truck and swing my bike in there, and have access to...

    Got 2013 delivered today

Hey, you stole my bike!! As long as you don't start calling her Jessica, I guess I will let it slide... :Slap: In all seriousness, cograts!! They are fine machinery!:D:D:cool:

    Hard Bags?

Anybody mount some hard bags for saddlebags on their FZ6R? I don't like the look of a top case, but I want to get some saddle bags for longer trips. I was specifically looking at the Givi bags, but I am not partial to any brand. Waterproof is a must as well. Let me know if you guys have...

    Frame Sliders

I'm using Shogun no cut frame sliders. Haven't tested them yet (hopefully ever) but they seem solid. The left side mounting plate has discolored to a deep purple from the heat though lol

    Middleweight Intermediate Sportbike Shootout: CBR650F v Ninja 650 ABS v FZ6R

I watched it last night. Sounds like the FZ took the cake to me  . I am a little shocked Honda put out such a buzzy engine though.

does anyone ask if your 6r is an R1?

I tell people i have an FZ6R and 90% of them go "ooh you have an R6!, my buddy has a ___, you guys should race!"... ugh. I think the 6R is a bit more of an obscure/ less promoted bike in the yami lineup compared to the more famous R6 and R1. A shame, the 6R is such a great beast!

    Service costs?

$1100?! Aside from the clutch loosening (because im not sure how to do it), this is all basic DIY stuff. I think the Yamaha $300 quote is dead on. But honestly, grab the manual, a basic set of tools, oil, fuel filter, 4 spark plugs, and a 6 pack and go at er! :D Edit: Congratulations on...

Shifting from 1st to 2nd at high rpms

I had the same issue, and still do occasionally. I took the bike into the dealer and they said they could not recreate the problem and blamed it on my inexperience (which I am). I took it home, adjusted the shift lever lower, and raised the seat. It seems better now with a lower shift lever...

    Winter Storage

This will be my first year as well. From what I read, do an oil change, fill the tank up and put fuel stabilizer in it, get the tires off the ground (or put a few pieces of thick cardboard under them at least). Give it a good cleaning and drying (wax if you have it). Plug in a battery tender...
