It all depends on how much protection you want. Good quality leather comes at a price. The pants I use have a double leather butt and leather on the knees and front and side of the leg. The back of the legs are vented so summer wearing is possible. It's hard to get a product that does...

If I am the last one in line waiting for a traffic light I move in between cars to avoid the hit from behind.
