My First Crash and Hit and Run...

So this morning, im going to a doctors appointment to follow up on ER doctors orders. On my way, im riding my Fz6r and i slowly passing a newer(likely brand new) Honda Odyssey. I am in the left hand lane on a 2 lane on each side road. I was going straight but out of the blue, she SWINGS left, into my lane and into me....

I didnt even have time to react. I momentarily lost control and went into the grass on the other side of the road. SO LUCKY i didnt spill. I came to halt after getting back on the road but while trying to get off the saddle, i entire right leg hurt. I thought i had broken something.

After doing a personal evaluation, i didnt brake anything. I carefully walked over to her car. My bike barely did a dent to her car, mostly black scratches. There was a dent on her front wheel well angled funny. My leg sandwich probably did that... XD She asked for my license and i pulled out my wallet but she wasnt carrying anything while she was outside her car. I asked for her license and she said she left it at home.

This is about where i got in a minor argument with her and my Mother called me asking why i was late to my appointment(shes my medical translator since i dont know anything and shes a nurse). I stepped aside and hung her up to call the police with this excuse. As i a few steps away, she got in her car and ran. I got her plates on my Drift HD Ghost-S. I told the cops to meet me at my appointment location. Waited about an hour after my appointment was over and all they could tell me is there were no results for a Honda Odyssey...

Total Damages:
Right foot peg broke
Right brake lever bent badly
Right fairing scratched and "scuff marked"
Right foot badly messed up.

TL;DR: Hit and run and cant catch person. Out a good sum of money and bike out of commission... People suck. :(

Dude wtf!? Cops should be able to take your footage, the woman's face, and license plate and go get her. I can't remember Frankie's username, but he's an MD local too and a cop. We gotta get you in touch with him. I'll private message you his number, just call or text and say you got it from Matt.

I feel ya though. Every time I've been hit (all in the cage, not on the bike, thank God!) the person hasn't had license or insurance. Makes me want to punch someone in the face! Your story gets me all mad again. Hate those people!
The other problem is im afraid to report anything to my insurance company since im only 19 and am involved in an accident. I dont see a reason to get the fairing fixed since its really not that bad and the peg and brake lever is about 70$. My insurance will likely shot through the roof for this. Whether or not im at fault.

 hope they catch her! if you have the plate #, don't see why they can't run it and investigate... like you said if the car is newer and not on the correct vehicle, they should be able to match a name/address and go from there

Thats what the cops doing. Not sure why it is not on the correct vehicle but the cops are trying to investigate this. Hopefully it will lead back to her.

This is a picture of the damage i did to her car while we were talking. Look at the fender piece. That was not my bike ;)

yeah looks very minor. not for your sake, wish you did more damage to her car. actually surprised she stopped and got out if she doesn't have insurance or already has points/accidents and trying to prevent from being reported. maybe she has a conscience, and did feel bad, wanted to know you were ok and not hurt.

they prob. just put the plate/reg. on another vehicle illegally to not pay.

years ago when I got out of military, moved and still had an out of state license - got pulled over for nothing. cop said he ran my plate at stop light, came back to correct vehicle but did not see a driver's license associated... so he assumed was stolen

Honestly in the county i live in, the cops are fairly good(or have too much time on their hands). They will catch her eventually especially since cops here have those plate reading cameras on their cars. Oh and dont forget karma for her too.

The scratches above the circle piece with the line were there before i bought the bike. The rest of the scratches on the engine were from this crash.

So the investigating officer called me today. This is kinda bad news. They were not able to find the lady since the leads they had were all dead ends. The plate was a stolen plate to a Kia Soul. The car that actually hit me has yet to be seen but the officer will patrol the area more heavily in hopes the lady will have a pattern of going through the area. Also got quoted for new pegs from one of my local shops. ~120$... And i need a brake lever too. :(

That's a lot of crap. I would take a day and just sit on that road and watch the vehicles go by. I'm sure you will see it eventually.

I've done this in the past when a car hit a friend of mines. took me 10 days of just sitting there and watching cars but I was livid so I stuck it out and finally saw the vehicle that hit him and ran. I followed them right to their house and parked and called the cops. Everyone in the house had warrants and went to jail that day.

I will try that. I am going to back track a bit to where i first saw her and try to do that. Im willing to bet it will work tho.

Cool. Checking that place out. Likely going to see about just buying the metal piece that connects the bike. Looks like i can remove the remainder of the parts since they are ok.

Great news!!! The investigating officer just called me. He told me the lady that had hit me was spotted this morning about a mile before where she hit me. They followed her to her home and arrested her. The officers will be pressing charges since they have the footage from my camera of the entire event, the hit and run, and stolen plates. :steve::america:

Karma....... Glad to hear, now you can sue for all the money lost due to teh indecent... even if she doesn't have insurance (likely)... you at least now have a chance
Why would i sue her when i can add damages to the criminal trial against her. That way the SA can do the work instead of hiring a lawyer.
