Another way of looking at it guys: most older people will go the way their head is turned. Maybe the guy was staring at his mirror at the cycle behind him and wandered over the center line?? just a theory.
It's possible Dragonblu, but I had come up on him and he was already in the left half of the lane, then when I looked around him and down shifted to start to pass he drifted over the center lane and maintained that position until I was pretty far past.

I've though about throwing that on my bike multiple times. Except I would use it to clear a path. Well, I would. I would use it to eliminate cagers that irritate me(I.E. the ones that go less than the suggested speed limit on twisties cause they're scared). Then I wanted to install a spike strip that I could drop anytime I wanted to deal with the cagers that ride my tail because 15+ over the speed limit isn't fast enough. HAHA!
I was under the impression that there was no law specifically allowing lane splitting, but there wasn't one prohibiting it so you are allowed to. There is a law that says you can be in any part of the lane that you want, so motorcycle and cars have equal rights to a portion of a lane. You technically cannot ride over the double yellow next to the HOV lane, but I see tons of people doing it (including motor cops) and it gives a little more room when trying to get through traffic.
sadly, because it has "4 wheels", it would be considered a car for road purposes and must have all the safety features that go along with that. the USDOT would not consider it a motorcycle.
